Veteran international ring official, Ataa Eddie Pappoe has commended and congratulated organisers and sponsors of the recently held 4th Boxing Ghana Awards which took place last Saturday at the Idrowhyt Events Centre at Dansoman.
He said the brains behind the concept must be hailed because many people are doing well and they have not been noticed or recognised.
Pappoe who received a lifetime achievement award advised all boxing people to rally behind Boxing Ghana and support them to attract more funds to put up bigger events
"I must commend the team behind the CEO of Boxing Ghana for your marvelous job and I pray that you keep it up and get more sponsorship" he expressed.
The ceremony was graced by Lawyer Peter Zwennes. Hon.Kotey Ashie MP for Odododiodoo, GOC / GBF executive member, George Lamptey, Ace Boxing Writer Ekow Asmah. Former IBF Champion Joseph Agbeko, William Effah of PKO, Referee Shadrack Acquaye, coaches Dr. Ofori Asare, Darko, boxers Samuel Takyi, Abu Kamoko aka Ambitious Tilapia, Aziz Qurtey and others.
Hon Kotey Ashie congratulated the nominees and winners. He was optimistic Ghana will soon get another world champion, and more amateur medalists.
Meanwhile, Ghana Boxing Authority presidential aspirant Mr. Rabon Dodoo who supported the Boxing Ghana Awards said it is a very laudable programme that must be embraced by the Ghana Boxing family
He expressed that boxers, coaches and even media men and women who distinguished themselves should be motivated and encouraged to bring out their best.
The 4th Boxing Ghana Awards saw over 30 people being rewarded for their outstanding performance.
Some of the winners got gas stoves presented by BJ Wise Electricals, while all the lifetime achievement winners got cash prizes.
Theophilus Allotey was voted Boxing Personality of the year 2025. He also won Best Dressed Boxer and Most Disciplined Boxer Awards.

The African Boxing Inaugural Congress took place in a hybrid format at the Lamiridge Hotel Conference Hall, Lagos, Nigeria on 28th December, with the participation of 20 National Boxing Federations.
Ghana was represented by new president elected on December 27, 2025, Dauda Fuseni who was appointed President of African Zone 2 (West Africa) by World Boxing.
He told Yours Truly in an exclusive chat that he will try his best to make a mark and leave a legacy. He promised to unite the sub region and approve competitions that will improve the rankings and standards of West African boxers.
He hoped to attract the needed assistance and energy to succeed in his new roles.
Alhaji Fuseni will be responsible for coordination, supervision and development of all boxing activities in Zone 2, encompassing 16 West African countries, with immediate effect.
His letter of appointment was signed by the African President, Mr. Solomon Desmond Kargbo.

Ace sports journalist Sammy Heywood Okine has been voted Best Boxing Writer and Media Personality of the Year 2025 from an overwhelming voting process.
The two prestigious awards in the 2025 Boxinghana Awards were presented by MP for Odododiodoo, Hon Alfred Kotey Ashie and Ekow Asmah at an impressive ceremony held at the Idrowhyte Events Center on Saturday January 3, 2026.
Others who won were Kapon - Best Boxing Fan, Best Promoter – Legacy Rise Promotions, Best Professional Boxer - Theophilus Allotey, Best Match Maker - Augustus Dodoo and Joseph Martey - Coach of the Year.
The experienced media guru, Mr. Okine who is head of sports at Omashi TV and associate editor of boxinghana as well as Ghana Country Director of African Media Sports Ventures and contributor to websites; moderghana.com, newsghanaonline.com, ultimatesportsghana.com, asaaseaban.com dedicated the awards to his family, friends and colleagues in the media, especially young journalists and bloggers.
The Press Attache for Team Ghana at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games where Samuel Takyi won the only bronze medal for Ghana and Africa said boxing is one sport that has taken Ghana to places and the government needs to invest regularly and better.

National Lightweight Champion, Joseph Commey was given a tough challenge at Bishop Promotions 'Best of Bukom 2' on New Year day January 1, 2026 at the Bukom Boxing Arena by hard hitting southpaw Majid Yakubu.
22 years old Commey (4-0, 2KOs) popularly called Jaguar, begun the bout with the fans behind him and gave a good account of himself in the early rounds of the much anticipated fight.
Young Yakubu (4-1, 2KOs) managed to turn the crowd in his favour as he landed powerful punches with his left.
He took rounds 4,5 and 6 hitting Commey with long overhand punches and snapping Commey's head many times. His confidence soared and gained confidence mounting pressure on Commey.
Commey who lost his support used his bravery to surmounted the challenge and countered the attack with jabs managing the final rounds.
The judges scored the bout 97-93, 95-95, 98-92 in favor Joseph Commey to retain his title.
The product of Box Office and Black Panthers Gym was carried shoulder high after the fight for putting up a good show. His loyal fans were resolute and they carried the night.

The baby assassin, Henry Malm dropped Isaac Commey, the kick boxer in the 5th round and stopped him in round 7 in their Super Welterweight contest on January 1 at the Bukom Boxing Arena.
Henry Malm who represented Ghana at the Paris Olympic Games 2024 qualifiers now has a record of (11-0, 10KOs). In round 7, he loaded a flurry of unanswered punches which Commey could not answer.
Malm hurt Commey in the 5th round with an uppercut to crush him on the canvas on his knees but strong guy from Chorkor recovered and came back strong to finish the round.
Commey (10-3, 10KOs) suffered a one side pounding in rounds 6 and 7 and a powerful uppercut sent him to the canvas. Referee Neequaye stepped in to wave his hands to end the fight.
Big congratulations to Dave Bishop and his Promotions for another good show.
Meanwhile Malm has challenged former IBF Welterweight champion Joshua 'The Grandmaster' Clottey and the fight will come on soon.
Haruna Mohammed of Wisdom Boxing became the new WABU Champion when he also knocked Ashitey Larbie.
The man called Thunder did it in style at the Bukom Boxing as he pounded Ashitey Larbie to a round 7 KO to become the new WABU Cruiserweight champion at the Bishop Boxing Promotions Bill dubbed Best of Bukom 2.
Great thanks must go to trainer Dr. Ofori Asare for guiding the new champ.
Haruna lost the National title to Abdula Ahmed but the opponent he wants to face is Jacob Dickson.

The boxer fans call Africa, Africanus Neequaye gave boxing fans something to cheer about at the Bukom Boxing Arena on January 1, 2026 before recording a round 7 TKO against Daniel Quaye of the Bronx Boxing Gym to become the New National Lightweight Champion.
The pride of the Jamestown Boxing Gym Africanus Neequaye delivered a sweet victory to a partisan crowd with precision as reduced Daniel Quaye to hit at will.
Neequaye who is 20 years old and a past student of Prince de Henry Educational Complex and LaboneSHS (10-0, 7KOs), put up a beautiful combination of punches to the body and head of Quaye in all 6 round.
Daniel Quaye (9-2-1, 9KOs) is not in the class of Neequaye who fired nicely in round 6 with beautiful and clinical combinations of punches hurting Quaye several times in admiration of the crowd. Daniel Quaye did not come for round 7, and referee David Mills had to wave to call the end of the bout.
Black Panthers hero, Michael Abban 20 also dispatched Kizato of Tanzania to win the WBA Pan and Commonwealth Silver Super Flyweight title
Michael Abban stopped his opponent Mushin Kizato in R3 after dishing out quick power punches to body.
Abban (13-1, 8KOs), improved in record as he inched closer to the Commonwealth title. Congratulations to coach Eben Adjei and the team.
In the special amateur bout, Mathias Ashitey of Black Panthers proved why he is the SWAG Best boxer when he beat Caleb Mensah of Wisdom Gym.

Ghana's Haruna 'Saabo' Osumanu has lost his World Boxing Organization-WBO Africa heavyweight title in Tanzania to home favourite, Frank Shagembe via a round 3 TKO after the Ghanaian couldn't continue again due to a hand injury in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania on New Year's Eve.
Another Ghanaian, former WBO Africa super middleweight champion, Emmanuel Martey also failed to add another continental title in a different division as 2 Ghanaian judges score it 99-91, 99-91, whilst the third had it 98-92, all in favour of Asemahle Wellem of South Africa who becomes the new World Boxing Organization-WBO Africa light heavyweight champ - Viwanja vya Posta, Dar-Es-Salaam - 31/12/2025.

Parin FC showed their resilience and character in week nine of the Accra North District Football Association (ANDFA) Division Three league played at the Apenkwa Astro Turf on Friday.
Again, Parin FC had to come back on occasions before going on to win the game 3-2, to push them to the top of the table with 19 points.
New Dove opened the scores in the early minutes of the game through Emmanuel Ampqdu.
But Parin FC leveled up though Micheal Ayertey, who pounced on through pass from Rapheal Tetteh to score.
The game went into recess with both teams at equal strength, but on resumption, Isaac Debrah converted a penalty for New Dove after Edward Osei fouled an attacker.
Ayertey again equalized for Parin FC, to make the scores two all.
Both sides battled to take control of the game, with tensed moments as action swing from one side to the other.
At this point, the game was halted as fans of New Dove invaded the inner perimeter but center referee ensured order.
Samuel Clinton Amponsah, picked up a long cross from defence run at the defenders of New Dove and managed to placed the ball in the corner of their net for the match winner.
It was a goal that separated the two sides and also silenced the home team that had huge local fans behind them.
