President of Women In Sports Association.(WISA) Madam Gloria Commodore is rallying all appointed female warriors of Nii Mensah Kanlow We (family) to enter into productive economic ventures.
At a meeting held at Mamprobi in Accra last Saturday. Madam Commodore who now has a stool name, Naa Sei Okropong 1said her vision is to make women leaders in the family productive and empower them to enter into business ventures.
She noted that initially she brought in an NGO from the United Kingdom to teach the women how to make soap and other projects.
She said the Nii Mensa Kanlow allied family which comprises Commodores, Marteys and Botchways is very large based in Accra and Prampram, however as life goes on, she wants them to be progressive and contribute positively to the development of the country.
According to Naa Sei Okropong, she had supported and encouraged many female sports people for the past 10 years, and now wants to channel the support to the family.
For 10 good years she organised and presented awards to female athletes, sports journalists and administrators.
The former member of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) said "I have sacrificed and supported many people in sports, it is time to have attention for family and that is the focus for now".
An Asafoanye is a respected female figure who transitions from ancient military leadership to modern traditional governance, protecting and guiding their community.
They embody ancestral bravery, serving as custodians of cultural heritage, particularly during festivals like Homowo, and ensuring the continuity of their lineage's duty.
They are also involved in advocating for economic growth, upholding truth, and ensuring the welfare of their people.
Present was Nii Sei Okropong 1, the vice chairperson and secretary. They all supported the ideas of Naa Seinye who believes traditions must be spiced with modern trends.
