2022 Commonwealth silver Medalist, Abraham Mensah aka 'Unstoppable" says his target is the National Featherweight Championship title held by Stanley Nyantekyi aka Ashanti Warrior.

In an exclusive chat on Omashi TV last Friday,  Mensah disclosed that he wants to beat Nyantekyi because he has been overhyped with cheap opponents and wants him to get his first real boxing taste.

According to Mensah who trains at the Seconds Out Gym, due to some factors he is a bit late, but he is now ready to take on the best boxers in Featherweight and Super Featherweight.

"I have arrived and I want to do it quickly.  It seems boxing fans have forgotten about me, but I am back in grand style and I want to thank my management, fans and family for how far I have reached" he said.

Mensah who has one professional bout says boxing is his life and the only thing he learnt and can do best is boxing.

"I believe in myself that I can become a world beater, I just need the encouragement and support to realise the dream" he said.

Abraham Mensah who attended the Street Academy and later found himself in the Black Bombers team noted that fighting as a professional is very different from an amateur, but he loves the experience and exposure that both give.

"I am really wild, I am coming like a wounded tiger and want to warn all boxers at the Featherweight class that the real champ is back" he said. He was accompanied by Coach Dan on the show.

UBO Africa Lightweight Champion, Joseph Commey aka Jaguar has disclosed that there is no quality boxer in his weight class and the only one who has proved himself is Samuel Takyi that is why he want them to meet to determine who is better.

Speaking to Yours Truly on The Big Fight Night on Omashi TV Jaguar noted that if Takyi (7-0-0) wants to become a champion then he should be prepared to face him because boxing is their business and they are in the same weight class.

According to Commey (2-0-0) both of them represented Ghana at the international level and now that chapter is closed and they are now professionals so they should fight.

"I don't see why Takyi is running away and feeling big, if he believes himself,  he should come and let's rumble, I will teach him boxing, he is just running around claiming he won Olympic medal, that one is just because he was fortunate, but who has he fought,  if he believes he is good, he should accept a deal to fight me, i am ever ready, even now" he expressed.

Commey won silver medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Scotland while Samuel Takyi won bronze at the 2020 Olympic Games in Japan. Both represented Ghana at the 2023 African Games and got gold. Now they are in the same weight division.

But Takyi who was indecisive at a stage and joined the paid ranks before returning to amateur has fought more and he is asking Commey to also get some number of bouts before they clash.

Takyi, a SWAG Sports Personality of the year 2021 who is managed by Streetwise Boxing is currently on a training tour in England while Commey is in Ghana training at the Black Panthers Gym under the watch of Alex Ntiamoah Boakye and Coach Eben Adjei.

Commey will take on Victor Kuwornu for the National Lightweight Championship on August 23, and he says Takyi was just fortunate to represent Ghana at the Olympic Games which no one was watching at Covid time and he did not fight any better opponents.

"If Takyi is a man he should just agree and we rumble" he stressed.

Meanwhile, Ayitey Powers is prepared to put down $50,000 for the bout. 'Ataa Kaa' as he is also called says the camp of Takyi must also bring the same amount for a winner take all clash to be promoted by Legacy Rise Sports.

Samuel Takyi has replied that he is looking ahead for international exposure making the bout a bleak one.

However many Ghanaian boxing fans want to see who is the best in the Lightweight division.

"If Takyi is afraid I will take on Kuwornu on August 23, and I want the fans to come and see the Jaguar perform, it's going to be a great time with Bishop Promotions and I will display" Commey assured.

Commey who was honoured at the IBA Champions Night in Ethiopia was named UBO Prospect of the year and Boxing Ghana Boxing Personality of the year in 2024.
