“It’s been a long time but this is the right time”

After almost 18 years of dedicated service to para sports, 41 year old Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe was on Saturday October 10, 2020 named the 2019 Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Sports Personality of the year.

The 45th MTN SWAG Awards was held on Saturday at the Alisa Swiss Spirit Hotel in Accra, coupled with beauty, simplicity and innovation.

Crystal Palace striker, Jordan Ayew says he is grateful for being awarded the 2019 Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Footballer of the year.

Mr. Isaac Kwame Asiamah, the Minister of Youth and Sports has appealed to the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) to institute an awards scheme that will also honour the best Sports Journalist of the year.

He made this call at the annual SWAG Awards Night held at the Alisa Hotel in Accra, last Saturday.

The ceremony was organized to reward outstanding sportsmen and women who have performed creditably in their various fields in the year under review.

The Minister appealed to the leadership of SWAG to institute and include awards for the best Sports Journalists in the country, as a way of encouraging them to work hard.

Ben Nunoo Mensah, president of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has congratulated disabled athlete, Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe for winning the 2019 SWAG Sports Personality of the year.
