Despite the challenges and criticisms at the 2025 Tour du Ghana Cycling competition, some participants saw some positive and progressive sides of the week long event and experience.
With 10 countries taking part, namely Germany, Austria, Holland and Belgium as well as Burkina Faso, Nigeria. Benin and Togo joining Ghana with three teams, the Greater Accra and Bahati team the stage was set for an exciting exploration.
On the first day, the convoy set off a bit late do the first race from Atimpoku to Ho could not come on, however. the capital town of the Volta Region offered other tourism benefits with the landscape of hills and valleys as well as fine weather of smooth sunshine and rains when it is necessary.
Races to Fume and Adaklo were successful just like from Ho to Atimpoku.
The excursion to Afadzato was another unique experience and the final in Ablekuma was just spectacular.
For Remon Wijfje, he had a great time with guys at Tour Du Ghana for the first time as a team leader, in the super tightly organized, punctual, fluent Ghana.
He said never would he get such marvelous friends and colleagues again so he was very happy and grateful to the Ghana Cycling Federation.

Ghana boxers At IBA World Boxing Championships
Reports reaching Yours Truly state that the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) has sent three boxers to the 2025 IBF World boxing championships in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), however the boxers went without a coach.
Before they went nobody knew what was going on at the Federation, until Yours Truly visited the Sports Day celebration and went to watch the boxing stand where some amateur boxers were having an exhibition.
President Bernard Quartey said they are always training and turning out new boxers from juvenile to juniors and elite. He said they are also ready for competitions.
Meanwhile, nobody knew who was going to represent Ghana in an international IBA competition, until the boxers left.
They are 2024 SWAG Best Boxer, Amadu Mohammed (54 kg), Ebenezer Ankrah (60 kg) and Emmanuel Mawuli (57 kg) who are currently in Dubai, UAE to compete at the 2025 IBA World Championships which had it's opening ceremony earlier December 2 with a mouthwatering $300,000 at stake for gold medal winners. The competition which ends on December 13 has $150,000 for the silver medalists and $75,000 for the bronze winners and $10,000 for fifth place per weight.
50% of the purse will go to the boxer, 25% to the coaches and 25% to the federation.
Throughout the history of the competition, Ghana has only managed to secure one medal. This feat was accomplished by Amon Kotei in the first edition of the tournament in 1974, where he won a bronze medal.
Another worry is that no Ghana trainer or coach went with the boxers.
When Yours Truly quizzed the Vice President of the GBF, Alhaji Dauda Fuseni, he answered that the best person to answer that question is the President.
In another development, the GBF will be heading for elections on December 27, 2025 to elect new leaders for the next four years. Stay tuned for more.
