Mr. Jeffrey Taylor, President of the Ghana Mixed Martial Arts Association says he wants Ghana to host a memorable and historic classic event at the 13th African Games, and called on all stakeholders, especially the Ghana Mixed Martial Arts Federation (GHAMMAF) to come together for a successful organisation.
According to him, the Association has been sanctioned by the Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA) to stage the African Games, however they want to involve all combat sports to create the large coverage and mileage.
Speaking at a Press Conference on Wednesday, Mr. Jeff Taylor said he wants everyone who is engaged in MMA to be part of the organization and the making of history as they prepare for an Olympic Games appearance.
Mr. Kwab Asamoah, the Vice President of the Association said they aspire to unite all the fronts of the combat sports like Boxing, Kickboxing, Karate Do, Judo and so that they know the best who can represent Ghana at the Games.
He noted that they are not a threat to any Federation or Association but offering opportunity for the youth to develop and promote the least financed and lesser known sports.
"We are planning on camping, sponsorship, cohesion, media attention and public appeal" he emphasized.
USA based Mr. Steven Richmond promised to support the organization of the Games with a cage which will soon land in Ghana.
"We need a professional settings and good amateur performance" he said.
Coach Ezekiel Dodoo assured that Ghana has very strong and talented fighters who can win gold.
Derek Macaire, an experienced official said the men on the ground are prepared to work.
National Boxing Coach Lartekwei Lartey, a trainer at the Fit Square Gym said the fighters are ready to face Africa.
"We have the men, we are only waiting for the bell to sound and the referee to say "fight".
The 13th African Games was supposed to be held this year, 2023 but has been shifted to March 2024.

West Ham new star, Mohammed Kudus has opened up on his favourite footballing moment since he turned professional.
In a close up with the media team of West Ham United, the Black Stars poster boy said his favourite footballing moment was playing for Ghana at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The Ghana international, 23, was part of the Ghana squad that featured for the Black Stars at last year’s mundial hosted in Qatar.
At the World Cup in Qatar, Mohammed Kudus who has already showed his quality at Ajax had the opportunity to showcase his talent to the world at the big stage.
He was a star for Ghana and scored against Portugal and South Korea.
Although the Black Stars could not advance to the knockout stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Mohammed Kudus made his mark and has since become a global footballing icon.
He has since earned a move from Ajax to West Ham United where he has opened a new chapter of his career.
He will be playing a key role in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers to ensure Ghana earns a ticket to play at the next tournament.

John Laryea ranked 15th on WBO world list
Ghana’s WBO Africa Featherweight Champion, John Abaja Laryea has been ranked number 15 in the lastest 126lb (57.15kgs) list released by the World Boxing Organisation (WBO).
Laryea who is also known as the Expensive Boxer under the management of the Asamoah Gyan Foundation and Bronx Boxing Promotions with Mr. Sammy Anim Addo is eager to make a name as a world champion.
He says many people will not believe, but very soon or later he will become a champion.
According to the Bronx Boxing product, his able coach Lawrence Carl Lokko is very capable of taking him to the world stage.
The undefeated Laryea is 15th on the list which has boxers like Cuban Robeisy Ramirez as the champion.
The top 10 contenders are Arnold Khegai of Ukraine, Sergio Sanchez of Mexico, Stephen Fullon of the USA, Mauricio Lara of Mexico, Ruben Villa of the USA, Nick Ball of Great Britain, Isaac Dogboe of Ghana, at seventh contender, Reiya Abe of Japan, Raymond Ford of the USA and Brandon Leon Benitez of Mexico.
Other organizations’ title like the WBC is held by Rey Vegas, WBA by Leigh Wood and IBF Champion is Luis Alberto Lopez.
“I am preparing, I don’t fear any of them, because I know I can rake big money f I get a good promoter to give me a big fighting opportunity in the USA or UK. I will never disgrace my fans and supporters. We are the new generation” he said.

The German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) is supporting the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) with boxing equipment and a two-week training course for boxing coaches in Ghana.
The training sessions will take place at the Accra Sport Stadium with German boxing expert and DOSB member Laith Hamad.
GBF President Bernard Quartey launched the training course together with programme coordinator Christoph Kowalewski and cultural attaché at the German Embassy Anna Becker.
The coach-training was opened under the motto "A partnership will be Olympic". After opening words and thanks from the President of Ghana Boxing Federation Bernard Quartey,
Christoph also thanked himself for the reception and gave an overview of the development of the partnership so far.
Then Laith introduces the training program. He had the wonderful Mabellina page translated Everything into Ga, one of Ghana's numerous national languages. It worked really well and was a lot of fun.

The Black Queens are set to take on Rwanda in the second leg of the 2024 WAFCON. The match will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 4:00pm at the Accra Sports Stadium.
In the previous encounter in Kigali, the Black Queens dominated with a remarkable 7-0 win in the first leg of the Women's African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Qualifier.
Assistant Divisional Officers, Grade II Cynthia Akwele Lamptey of the Ghana National Fire Service was among a group of people who were honoured at the Independence Square for serving the nation at high executive offices and institutions.
ADOII Lamptey joined the Fire Service in 1989 and has been posted to the Accra International Conference Center and State House, Banquet Hall.
She served for a period of 33 years, within which she attended many workshops, seminars and courses, before retirement in 2022.
She was a sports lady and played football and handball.
For a long while, she was the national handball goalkeeper and exceled in many competitions.
She is a member of the Women In Sports Association (WISA) as well as the Retired Sports Women Association.
She loves cooking and having fun.
She thanked the Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Hon. Akosua Frema Osei - Opare and her staff for the recognition and end of service reward.

Ghana Tug of War Association (GHATOWA) in collaboration with the National Sports Authority (NSA) will stage the Korle Gonno Open version of the Community Tug of War competition on Saturday 30th September at the Dr. Bannerman Park (Okpo Tsu).
The programme which is sponsored by Dano Milk starts from 10am to 6pm is expected to be exciting and pull a lot of fans.
According to Mr. Emmanuel Olla Williams, President of Ghana Tug of War, Dano Milk will provide their products to everyone who will participate.
"Dano Milk will sort out people who bring gari, Kenkey and banku. My brothers and sisters, no long talk, bring anything mixable and Dano Milk just go sort you out "k3k3" he said.
It’s time to separate the boys from the men as all roads lead to the Bannerman Park also called Okpo Tsu Park this Saturday 30th September 2023 for the Dano Milk Fisherforks Tug of War Championship.
The event serves as part of qualifications to the National Championship which comes up later in the year.
"Let’s meet there and be part of the Dano Milk Red Moment on the streets of Korle Gonno" he added.
There will be an entertaining side attractions to make guests happy.

Samuel Takyi starts training with the Black Bombers
2020 Tokyo Olympic Games Bronze medalist, Smuel Takyi has stated training with the national team, the Black Bombers as they prepare for the World Olympic Games Boxing Qualifiers in Italy next year.
He said the talent is there, but more needs to be done in terms of motivation and encouragement.
"We need more help in the team, we need sponsorships from the big companies in Ghana like Special Ice, Rush Energy Drink, MTN, and others we should be in camp to early before the Games. I must thank the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the GOC for their support" he said.
Samuel Takyi who is also known as the Ring Warrior missed the African Qualifier in Senegal and he has been given the next opportunity.
The rejuvenated Black Bombers begun training today at the Accra Sports Stadium where the boxers reported to the Technical Team led by Coach Dr. Ofori Asare.

On Saturday 24th September 2023, Association members of the Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) met in Kumasi at an EMERGENCY ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING to appoint an INTERIM MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE (IMC) after the term of some executives have expired, including GTTA President, Mr Mawuko Afadzinu.
The Interim Committee have also been tasked to run the affairs of the association till November 2023, when GTTA elections will be held.
They have also been tasked to oversee the upcoming elections and also ensure smooth handover from the previous administration to the new elected executives.
It will be recalled that the members of the GTTA sent a petition to get Mr Mawuko Afadzinu, the former chairman to render accounts of the Association from 2019 to date.
Again the back door amendments made in the GTTA constitution (without following due processes) have been questioned.
During the Extraordinary General Meeting, the 2015 constitution was rendered null and void and the members have agreed to resort to the 2010 constitution until proper amendments are made at next Annual General Meeting(AGM).
Members of the IMC include Naa Abudulai Abdule Razak, the Upper West Regional chairman, Mr Tweneboah Koduah, from the Ashanti Region and Mr Philip Boateng Koranteng from the Eastern Region.

B girl Tris Naomi of Ghana won her first major international competition in Cote d’Ivoire.
As part of preparations towards the Afro Break International Championship in Ghana in November, B Boy Blesso, B Girl Tris and B Boy Kofi Black were in Ivory Coast for the Ivory Breaking Championship.
The competition which took place over the weekend involved Ghana, Burkina Faso, Benin, Togo and Ivory Coast.
And at the end of the keen battles, Tris of Ghana was declared winner of the female category. It was her first major international title in a very hot competition.
The achievement has motivated her to step up her performance.
She comes from Chorkor, a deprived fishing community, but her determination is very deep and her goal is beyond the skies. She believes in hard work which pays well.
Breaking is the new sport for the youth that involves dancing and acrobatics at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The French Embassy in Ghana is supporting the Breaking Federation to make a representation.
The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) is also backing the young athletes to make it as the Olympic Games is a lifetime experience.
