Ghana’s WBO Africa Featherweight champion, John Abaja Laryea says he will use his next fight against Gabriel Laryea as a warm up for bigger bouts coming up in the future.

The undefeated, Abaja Laryea who weighed in today for tomorrow’s fight at the Bukom Boxing Arena said he is in top shape, thanks to his coach Lawrence Carl Lokko and highly motivated by his manager, Sammy Anim Addo.

The fight comes up at the Bukom Boxing Arena alongside other bouts.

Meanwhile, members of the Bronx Boxing Gym and Friends of Boxing (FOB) have commended Mr. Sammy Anim Addo for serving Ghana Football in the last four years as member of the Executive Committee and doing very well, however he lost the election this year and it was a good fight to sustain and do more.

Thailand based Ghanaian kickboxer, Gerald Dah returns to the cage or ring on November 22 to face the Pacific 70 kg champ, Rungtiwa Jantas of Thailand in Hong Kong on November 21, 2023.

Gerald has been one of the very active Ghanaian kickboxers fighting among the best in the heart of where the sport is.

He said one of his dreams is to win the enviable Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) award and a win in this match may do the trick.

He urged the sports media to research and promote Ghana Kickboxing because there are fighting opportunities for many young Ghanaian.

He was a member of the Power Zone Club, before moving to Thailand.

The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) and IMG have concluded an agreement making IMG the global sponsorship agency of CAF until 2025.

The scope of the agreement between CAF and IMG includes the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (“AFCON”) Côte d'Ivoire 2023 and the CAF AFCON Morocco 2025 competitions. The Africa Cup of Nations is undoubtedly the biggest event on the African Continent and amongst the football competitions with the highest viewership in Africa and globally.

Under this agreement, IMG will also deliver new sponsorship opportunities for the following CAF Competitions: TotalEnergies CAF Champions League, TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship, TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup, TotalEnergies CAF Super Cup, TotalEnergies CAF Women’s AFCON and CAF Women Champions League.

IMG will also provide marketing intelligence, data analysis and consultancy services to support CAF in the development of its new commercial sponsorship strategy.

The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) congratulates Morocco and its partners, Portugal and Spain on the decision by the FIFA Council to endorse Morocco, Portugal and Spain to host the FIFA World Cup 2030.

The FIFA World Cup will be coming in 2030 to Africa for the second time in the 100-year history of the World Cup, when Morocco in partnership with Portugal and Spain, hosts the FIFA World Cup 2030.

The award of the FIFA World Cup 2030 is subject to a successful bidding process which will be conducted by the FIFA Administration and the decision of the FIFA Congress.

IKF PKB Ghana in collaboration with the Ghana Kickboxing Association is organizing the ‘Championship Bout’ at the D G Hathiramani Sports Hall of the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 20, 2023.

Championship bout is featuring Semi Contact and Full Contact Fight with a title at stake.

Earlier on Thursday, October 19th and Friday, 20th, there would be a course for referees which is open to all former fighters and individuals who are interested in officiating from the local to the international level.

Former Black Stars head coach James Kwesi Appiah will serve on the Ghana Football Association Executive Council following his election on Thursday.

The 63-year-old polled 10 votes to claim one of the five slots for the Ghana Premier League during the Ghana FA Elective Congress at the Golden Dream Hotel in the Northern Regional capital.

Appiah is expected to serve on the Ghana FA Exco in the next four years, keeping him at office until 2027.

The former Ghana coach filed his nomination for the position on the ticket of Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko SC, following his appointment on the Interim Management Committee, currently running the club.

The ongoing Ghana Football Association election in Tamale is being closely monitored by a FIFA delegation in the Northern Regional capital.

Earlier, GFA President Kurt Okraku secured his re-election with an impressive 97.1% of the votes, with just two opposing votes cast against his retention. Other positions within the federation are yet to be decided.

Football administrator, Samuel Anim Addo has reacted after losing lost his position on the Ghana Football Association's Executive Council (Exco).

In a post on social media, the defeated Exco member expressed appreciation to God regardless of the outcome.

He opines that the defeat is a victory for him in the eyes of Jesus Christ.

“The Lord Has Spoken, Thank you Jesus , am still grateful .  Yes this was another victory for me in your eyes.  Thank you Jesus Christ,” Samuel Anim Addo said in a post on X.

Samuel Anim Addo who is manager of Asamoah Gyan went into today’s Elective Congress of the Ghana FA seeking to be re-elected among three representatives for the Division One League (DOL) on the GFA ExCO.

However, Anim Addo polled 13 out of the 48 votes cast by the Division One League clubs.

The Young Apostles CEO came last out of the 5 contestants competing for the 3 slots.

Former GFA vice President was Mark Addo successfully re-elected alongside Gideon Fosu and Eugen Nobel Nii Amon Noel.

The newly appointed three representatives of the Division One League will join five other Executive Committee members from the Ghana Premier League and Women's Premier League to form the new GFA ExCO.

The tour which has seen the light from top American football personalities is geared towards the development of American football in Ghana.

As part of it's objectives of reigniting the passion of the sport through the grassroot level, the firm has over the years organized vital training camps for young potential individuals, engaged stakeholders within the sports fraternity.

Held series of training sessions across the country with Ghanaian NFL star Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah in attendance.

The NFL star, Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah has been instrumental in the support and development of the game in Ghana. He recently received massive applause from NFL enthusiasts across the world for his fashion sense.

According to Mohammed Osman Nkosi, he has engaged stakeholders and experts in the USA to support the sport.

"I have had important interactions with key personalities in the American football industry, players and officials to see how best we can continue to support the development of American football in Ghana. Though, we have already started and pushing to top, my tour here would also help bring more people and resources onboard.

"Our major aim is to develop the game from the grassroot level, that is to get more young players and I am sure that would help the game." he said.

The president is expected to end his tour with media interactions in Ghana.

Ghana Mixed Martial Arts Federation President, Patrons And Members Meet NSA Director General

The President of Ghana Mixed Martial Arts Federation (GHAMMAF), Mr. Collins Zoiku and his newly elected Executive Members, and Patrons yesterday meet the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Prof. Peter Twumasi to formerly introduce themselves.

Present were Vice President, Mr. Ali Ajami, Coach Carl Lokko, Secretary General Mr. Patrick Johnson, Technical Ditector, Mr. Emmanuel Akpabli, Professor Kester Quist-Aphetsi, Mrs. Deladem Ephraim-Etsey, Mr. Kendrick Aryee, Mr. Ibrahim Ahmed, Mr. Francis Dzorgboku, Mr. Wonder Zoiku and the NSA officer in charge of Monitoring and Evaluation, Mr. Hubert Leo-Mensah.

Mr. Collins Zoiku expressed his sincere gratitude for the massive turn out and active participation of all his executives at the meeting.

“Your presence not only demonstrated your commitment and devotion to our organization but also played a crucial role in the meeting's success.

Mixed Martial Arts is one of the demonstration sports at the 13th African Games to be hosted in Accra, Ghana and the Federation wants to use the opportunity to create opportunities for the athletes.
