Mr. Emmanuel Olla Williams aka the GAS man has hailed the inclusion of Stephen Tornado Appiah in the management committee of the Black Stars saying it was one of the best decisions taken by the Ghana Football Association and it is one of the reasons why the team is united and jelling after two World Cup Qualifying matches.

He said though Chad and Madagascar may be below Ghana in FIFA ranking, the sweet victories are very important and will render all football calculators in Ghana not accessible because there will be no need to calculate if, why, when, where, why and how the Black Stars will qualify.

Mr. Olla Williams who is former youth coordinator of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) and currently heading two sports federations, Ghana Pillow Fight Championship and Ghana Tug of War Association (GHATOWA) expressed that if the right decisions are taken and the right people put in charge, certainly Ghana will win.

The CEO of Dreamland Sports Plus and leader of One On One Foundation which has been organising the Senior High Schools sanitation and aerobics said Ghana is so much blessed with sports people especially football so the nation must be present at every FIFA World Cup event.

He noted that the recent failures especially missing AFCON 2025 is a big lesson to not only Ghanaian footballer fans but mostly the players and people involved in football.

According to him, if the Black Stars win all their matches, there will be no need to calculate so it is good Stephen Appiah is on the Committee to share his experience and give the team reasons why they should play their hearts out because Ghanaians know and love football.

Born into a sports family with his grandfather Alhaji Abdullah Showumi Williams, a top boxing administrator and his uncle Ollabode Williams exploits in Ghana Football, himself a player he knows what is good for Ghana.

He urged Ghanaians to give the Black Stars full support so that the road to the next World Cup is smooth and fast.

He noted that the involvement of former skipper Asamoah Gyan in the team as an ambassador is also an added ideal and very super because he brings on board his experience as a player and fun to release stress.

Mr. Olla Williams appealed to corporate Ghana to get closer to sports federations and support them as sports is a tool for advertising and marketing.

He commended the media for their hard work in promoting sports.

He hinted that Ghana is preparing for an international Tug of War competition in South Africa and prayed for support from companies.

Picture shows Glenn Johnson and Alba Karina Quartey in Serbia

The final batch of Ghana’s Junior chess team players have arrived in the Serbian town of Vrnjacka baja near Belgrade for the on-going 2025 world schools’ championship. The championship got off to a start on the 21st of March in the Eastern European country without some of Ghana’s players due to travelling hinderances. With the timely intervention of the Danny List Foundation, a non governmental organisation that provides opportunity for children and young adults to improve their skills and develop their love for sports, the two chess players have joined the team and even played their first group of matches. The two players who are pupils of the Jane Montessori school at Tseaddo in the Ghanaian capital, Glenn Johnson Botwe and Alba Karina Quartey qualified for the world Championship after the African trials in Accra last year and are FIDE Ids holders in the game of chess.

The school’s Chess World Cup is a prestigious international tournament that brings together top junior chess players from around the world and this year’s event has attracted over 700 young chess players from 43 national federations competing across a host of categories from U7 to U17 with separate open girl’s event.

According to the Chairperson of the Danny List Foundation, Madam Angela List, the decision to sponsor Glenn Johnson Botwe , Alba Karina Quartey and their mother, to the global championship was motivated by the foundation's commitment to promoting less financed sports such as Chess as a tool for youth development.

The Danny List Foundation has been a long-time supporter of such sports development in Ghana, providing sponsorship and resources to talented young players and promoting the game in schools and communities across the country.

On his part, the father of the beneficiaries, Mr. Phil John Quartey an Accra based sports journalist expressed his utmost gratitude to the leadership the Danny list foundation especially Madam Angela List for the foundation’s swift response. He also thanked the management of TT Brothers Ghana limited and Experts consult limited for their additional sponsorship for the young chess players. Ghana’s entire team at the school’s chess world cup led by its President Philip Ameku are expected to return to Accra on the 31st of March.

Ghana now tops the Group after goals from Thomas Partey who had a brace and Mohammed Kudus banged in the goals.

But the main architect of the goals was captain Jordan Ayew who marshalled his players to ensure victory.

Others who featured were Jerome Opoku, Salisu Mohammed, Gideon Mensah.Alex Djiku and Kingsley Schindler, Antoine Semenyo. Abu Francis and Inaki Williams who came on as a sub. Razak Simpson also tasted the game.

By this victory Ghana now has 15 points and closer to qualifying to the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be hosted in USA, Mexico and Canada.

Many Ghanaians who were afraid of Ben Asare manning the posts are now relieved after he kept another clean sheet and can safely take Ghana to the sundial.

Coach Otto Addo and his technical staff have been congratulated for the good shows against Chad and Madagascar which has yielded eight goals for and no against.

Some credit must go to Technical Director Wilfred Schaefer and two former captains Stephen Tornado Appiah and Asamoah Baby Jet Gyan who psyched the players before the game.

The GFA led by Kurt Okraku should also be commended for the new vim and direction.

The executives of the Ghana Supporters Union must also be hailed for their wonderful support that gingered the players to play their hearts out.

Sports journalist Veronica Commey has been appointed as a Deputy Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), marking her transition from media to sports administration.

Her appointment was announced on Monday, March 24, 2025, by Minister for Youth and Sports, Kofi Adams, during the opening ceremony of a sports psychology training event at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Commey, a journalist and former treasurer of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), will serve as one of two deputies to fellow journalist and current Acting Director General of the NSA, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah. The other Deputy Director General is Gideon Hammond, a sports administrator.

Ghanaians are optimistic that the Black Stars will win in faraway Morocco in their next FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifier against Madagascar on Monday, 24th March 2025.

Yours Truly who predicted 5-0 is once again sure that Ghana will win by two goals to gain 15 points and top the group which includes Comoros, Mali, Central African Republic and Chad.

The Black Stars absence at AFCON 2025 in Morocco has really pained the players and they want to make amends with the World Cup Qualifiers and be present at the biggest Football Event in the world to be hosted by USA, Canada and Mexico.

Coach Otto Addo seems to be seeing things right and when he does the right selection, they will certainly sail through by topping the group for an automatic qualification.

Ghana has been at recent FIFA World Cups,  2006 in Germany, 2010 in South Africa, 2014 in Brazil, but missed 2018 in Russia and made it to Qatar 2022.

The charming performance of Ghana nearly made them enter the Semi Final in 2010, while 2014 was not good due to monetary issue which has now been solved for the team to jell.

With a new life, new president, new sports minister, new captain, new goal keeper, new technical director and even new NSA Director General, the direction is new and clear.

We wish the team success.

Ghana’s Felix Ajom (20 - 2- 1) will travel to Namibia to face home boy Special One for the WBO Africa super featherweight championship on March 29, 2025.

For Ajom, he wants to emulate the champions at his gym, the Bronx Boxing Club, which has four WBO Africa champions.

He said though it may be a tough battle because fighting away from home is always difficult so you have to carry your own judges and referee in your gloves to win clean and fair.

He hoped that officiating will be fair and prayed to attract fans in Namibia.
