Alhaji Abdullai Pangusur of Freight Consult (your total logistics) has donated 10,000ghc to the Ghana youth boxing team, Black Rockets in appreciation of their achievement at the 2025 African Youth Boxing Championship in Guinea.
The three young boxers led by Coach Joseph Martey won three gold medals and the third place trophy at the African Boxing Youth Championship held in Conakry, Guinea.
51 kg campaigner Mathias Ashitey, George Nii Nortey Dowuona (54 kg) and Desmond Pappoe in the 75 kg category all emerged champions in their weights in the round robin tournament which took place from Tuesday, May 20 to Saturday, May 24.
Tunisia was first while South Africa placed second.
The Vice President of the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) Alhaji Dauda Fuseni said they could have gone with more boxers and won many medals but they were not financially sound so he appealed to companies to support the team who will be preparing for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Senegal and the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, Scotland.

In the season of the gold, Chorkor Chemuanaa based division one side, Golden Kick FC want to make football history by claiming the prestigious FA Cup sponsored by telecommunications giant, MTN.
They face the experienced, fabulous and explosive Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the final af the MTN FA Cup at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Sunday June 15, 2025.
The road to the final has not been easy, especially for Golden Kick who edged out big clubs like perennial winners Accra Hearts of Oak, Atrram DeVisser and Karela FC in the tough stages of the Knockout competition.
Asante Kotoko also had to beat Berekum Chelsea and True Democracy and Sekondi Eleven Wise in the semi, quarter finals and one eighth stage before making it to this crucial grade.
The winner will not take home the trophy, medals and cash prize, but represent Ghana at the CAF Confederations Cup competition.
Already coaches and players of both Kotoko and Golden Kick have come out to express their targets and ideas on how to win.
For Coach Abdul Karim Zito of Kotoko he must get something to show why he left Dreams FC in the season when competitions were going on.

Haruna Mohammed aka ‘Thunder’ will be one of the local champions boxing fans will be looking out for to display well on June 13, 2025 when the Battle of the Beasts presented by Legacy Rise Sports Promotions and Amir Khan comes on at the Bukom Boxing Arena.
The national cruiserweight champion from the Wisdom Gym takes on Ahmed Abdula of the Kokomlemle based Fit Square Boxing Gym. He has been looking for an opportunity to defend his belt since Jacob Dickson chicken out at an Ayitey Powers Promotions bill.
This time he has a good match as both are tall and have the physique to be models, but boxing chose them.
Ahmed Abdula (8-0-0) 7 K’Os is glad and poised to face Haruna Mohammed (5-1-0) 5KO’s and sees it as a great opportunity. He has expressed his determination and anxiety as well as readiness and eagerness to fight the champion and win.
“I have prepared well and I can say I am fully prepared to face Haruna, he does not scare me because I have beaten the Hammer so Thunder is small for me, I will knock him out by round nine” he said.
Coming from the Fit Square alone makes him a tough nut and against a Wisdom baked boxer who will give fight fans more to cheer about. Abdula said he loves to play and watch football, but boxing chose him and does not regret becoming a boxer.

… Jacob Dickson faces real career test at home against Andrew Tabiti.
Ghana's former Cruiserweight Champion Jacob Dickson, 27 will face a test of his career at home before his fans when he takes on 35 years old American Andrew Tabiti on Friday 13 June at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra.
Tahiti comes with a record of 21-2-0, while Dickson is 14-1-0 and they are fighting for the WBC Africa Bridger weight title. Both have same nickname 'The Beast ' with 13 and 17 knock outs respectively.
The exciting bill which also features Theophilus 'Lopez' Allotey versus Daniel Selassie Gorsh aka 'The Emperor ' for his WBO Africa Bantamweight Title and the National Cruiserweight Championship between Haruna Mohammed of the Wisdom Boxing Gym and Fit Square's Abdula Ahmed is being promoted by Legacy Rise Sports headed by Sharaf Mahama, son of President John Dramani Mahama.
Crowd puller, Abubakar Kamoko aka Bukom Tilapia will take of Stephen Akrong, while the Lartey brothers Jerry and Jessie will display against tough opponents.

The Body Fitness Centre (BFC) at Dansoman was the venue on Saturday, June 7th, 2025 for the anticipated seminar organised by the Functional Sports League Ghana (FSLG) in collaboration with National Sports for All Federation (NASFAG) for other sports federation heads, representatives from Keep Fit Clubs and fitness organisations.
Mr. Charles Owusu Ansah, the President of Functional Sports League Ghana briefed on the genesis of functional sports, purpose plus objectives of the seminar, aims. goals, opportunities, challenges and prospects for participants. .
He urged other federations to join the FSLG. to train their athletes professionally to hit high level performance.
He noted that Keep Fit Clubs and other institutions have been going the same way with aerobics and health walks as a way of building fitness capacity. but there are more they can do.
"It is time to upgrade and not to be doing the same things all over again and again" he expressed.
He called for support and inclusivity among sporting groups and from the media as well as related stakeholders.
Some of the participants shared their experience on the seminar with most accepting to be part and adhering to use social media to interact and create a larger and wider base.
The seminar which was well attended was supported by Electroland Ghana Ltd. distributors of NASCO products. Nuerkies Hub. High Protein Recovery, Greystone Gym, Afrofit Global Fitness Foundation, the International Functional Fitness Federation (IF3) and powered by Health & Fitness Matters.

Ghana Boxing will be alive again on June 13, 2025 when Legacy Rise Sports Prmotions host another show dubbed ‘Battle of the Beasts’ at the Bukom Boxing Arena.
The main bout is between Ghana’s Jacob ‘The Beast’ Dickson, (14-1-0, 13KOs) against American Andrew ‘The Beast’ Tahiti, (21-2, 17 KOs) for the WBC Bridgeweight title, however the second main bout between Theophilus Nii Kpakpo Allotey aka ‘Theo Lopez’ versus Daniel Selassie Gorsh aka ‘The Emperor’ for his WBO Africa Bantamweight title has been the talk of town and everywhere boxing fans meet, the discussion is about Selassie and Lopez.
Accepting to challenge each other alone has puts them in a special class as brave boxers of Ghana.
For the records both are undefeated, and while Gorsh (15-0-0) turned professional at an early age on the advise of Coach Lawrence Carl Lokko of the Bronx Boxing Gym, while Allotey went through the amateur grades and represented Ghana at the African Olympic Games qualifiers to Paris 2024 fighting in Dakar, Thailand and Italy. He has also gone on a high level training tour at the British Cayman Island guided by Coach Dr. Ofori Asare of the Wisdom Boxing Gym.
Allotey (10-0-0) holds the National Super Flyweight as well as the UBO African Bantamweight title belts and Gorsh is the National and WBO Africa Bantamweight champion.
He is managed by Wisdom Boxing Promotions and inspired by many top class boxers including Joseph Agbeko, Patrick Allotey, Lomachenko, Sugar Ray Leonard, Theofimo Lopez, Canelo and Floyd Mayweather
USA based L & B Management Syndicate manages Daniel Gorsh who also loves to be called doctor because he injects his opponents.
For sure a good fight is expected as both have promised a knock out, so one will fall or call it a night.

Hon. Alfred Nii Kotey Ashie. Member of Parliament for the Odododiodoo Constituency has received and hailed the three amazing youth amateur boxers who represented Ghana and won Gold at the 2025 African Youth Boxing Championship in Conakry, Guinea.
Addressing them at his office in Parliament, he charged them to see this victory as a springboard to many assignments and opportunities coming up such as Youth Olympic Games and World Boxing events.
He cautioned Mathias Ashitey (Flyweight-51Kg), George Dowouna (Bantamweight-54Kg) and Desmond Pappoe (Middleweight-75Kg) live exemplary lives as models and motivation to other youth in Ga Mashie.
The proud MP who was presented with the gold medals noted that it is another great feeling for them to come from his constituency and represented Ghana in an international tournament to achieve the ultimate, while acknowledging the dynamic role of the team leader and coach Joseph Martey.
Hon.Ashie commended the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) and the men in handling the Black Rockets notably Vice President Alhaji Dauda Fuseni, Treasurer Mustapha Nettey, Solomon Otoo 2nd Vice President and Coach Charles Quartey trainer of the entire team.
Coach Carl Lokko of Bronx Boxing Club who accompanied the Rockets also congratulated the squad and prayed that corporates will support Amateur Boxing if government cannot do it because the talent abound.
The boxers promised to do their best to reach the highest and make the nation and themselves proud.

Holy Dorgbetor gets ready and set for next stage of WBC Grand Prix in Riyadh on 21st June 2025. He has intensified his training and strategy for the next bout against Muhamet Quamili.
Five Ghanaian boxers took off in the bill at the 2025 WBC Grand Prix in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from 17th to 22nd April.
The professional boxers were Holy Dorgbetor, Enoch Tetteh, Samuel Quaye and Gabriel Cofie and Olympian Shakur Samir.
Dorgbetor was the only one who won and has qualified for the next stage of the competition which has cash, medals and title belt at stake.
The 'Holy' camp is set on a mission and this is the stage and time to let the world know them very well.
He reached this stage by beating the Ukraine champion at the round of 32, and in the 1/16th, where he hope to push hard to the 1/8, quarters, semifinals and the grand final. He will be fighting for bragging rights and other opportunities.
The selection to represent at the Grand Prix came out with a competitive pool of 128 fighters across 41 countries who stepped into the ring for a shot at global stardom in what promised to be one of the biggest boxing spectacles.
WBC Grand Prix, organised by the World Boxing Council (WBC) in collaboration with Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh Season sports initiative, is a groundbreaking competition designed to unearth the next generation of boxing superstars.
A long-cherished vision of the late WBC President Don José Sulaimán, this event is billed as the first-ever Boxing World Cup and is featuring four weight divisions: Featherweight, Super Lightweight, Middleweight and Heavyweight.
With 32 fighters in each category, the tournament adopts a straight knockout format, spanning five rounds across the year. Unlike conventional boxing events, there will be no draws - every bout must produce a winner.
