Sports & Recreation Minister To Inaugurate Newly Constituted Boxing Normalisation Committee

The newly constituted Boxing Normalisation Committee will be officially inaugurated on Monday 29th September 2025.

The term of office of acting President of the Ghana Boxing Authority, Referee Roger Barnor has expired.

Following the tragic incident on 28th March 2025, in which a Nigerian boxer died, the Minister initiated a full-scale investigation to get to the root of the issues confronting professional boxing in Ghana.

The resulting 100-page report, led by the respected Rtd. Amarkai Amarteifio, was thorough, unfiltered, and deeply insightful. From those recommendations, a government white paper has been developed to guide reform.

According to Hon. Kofi Adams, the normalisation process is not just about administrative clean-up; it is about restoring trust, enforcing safety standards, and elevating boxing to modern global benchmarks. I am confident in the calibre of persons selected for this task, and I want to assure them of the full backing of the Ministry and Government.

“We owe it to the young athletes who put their lives on the line to chase a dream. We owe it to the sport that has long defined our national identity. Let’s get it right|” he expressed.
