Victor Cudjoe wins 2025 Obour Cycling Challenge

The second edition of the Obour Cycling Challenge has come to a close ,and Victor Cudjoe of Gladiators Cycling Club emerged victorious in the male elite category. The 103 kilometres race,which started in Nsawam and passed through Kyebi,Suhum ,and Apedwa before returning to Nsawam,was a thrilling competition that tested the endurance and skills of the patticipating cyclists.

Cudjoe,a Police officer ,dominated the race,beating 48 other Cyclists to claim the top spot to win the 2025 Obour Cycling Challenge. He and Prince Kudjofia formed an early breakaway and maintained their lead throughout the race. As they approached to the finish line ,Cudjoe demonstrated remarkable endurance, crossing the line first and securing the ultimate cash prize, followed by Prince Kudjofia,taking the second position. Alexander Allotey secured the third position.

The competitive race which was in a distance of 103 km, recorded an average speed of 38.29/Km/h and a time of 2h 40 minutes 40seconds.

Meanwhile, Godfred Willi  from Obour Cycling Club, took the youngest cyclist whiles Adams Anan also took the oldest cyclist in the second edition of Obour Cycling Challenge.

In the Women’s 40km race, Patience Otuodung from Nigeria  emerged victorious in the women’s category.

The women’s 40km event was fiercely contested, with Patience Otuodung, ultimately crossing the finish line first, followed by Abigail Tetteh of Ellen Anium. The 40km course from Nsawam through to Apedwa to Suhum and back to Nsawam.

Addressing the media, Mr  Obour said, “

In his view, "By participating in the Obour Cycling Challenge, you can not only challenge yourself to new heights but also build endurance and stamina, improve your cardiovascular health, enhance your mental toughness and discipline, and connect with like-minded individuals and cycling enthusiasts who share  passion for the sport.He expressed to

“Thank all cyclists who registered to participate in our event! We're thrilled to have you on board and appreciate your enthusiasm. Our goal is to support and empower cyclists like you by organizing Obour Cycling Challenge that promote the sport and build a sense of community. We're looking forward to hosting more events in the future and hope you'll join us again”.

"Although the Federation's Secretary General was unable to attend the event in person, he sent a heartfelt message expressing his deepest appreciation and praise to the organizers for their tireless efforts in bringing the cycling community together. His message was met with applause and gratitude from the participants, who understood the value of his endorsement."

“The publicity was great, and the athletes were thrilled on the route. This event will not only profit the athletes but the people in Nsawam,Suhum and Apedwa.

Let support the organiser led by Emmanuel Obour.” The General Secretary of the Ghana Cycling Federation, Shabban Mohammed, stated.

One fan from Nsawam also disclosed, “We are very happy that this event is being organised in Nsawwam Apedwa here. We, the drivers and traders associations, will support and make it a success.”

3rd position: Alexander Allotey(GHC 1000)

4th position:Francis Amu(GHC 200)

5th position:Francis Owusu(GHC 200)

6th position:Emmanuel Sesi(GHC 200)

7th position:Solomon Tagoe (GHC 200)

8th position:Micheal Brownson (GHC 200)

9th position:Philip Sowah (GHC 200)

10 position:Micheal Naaba(GHC 200)

In the ladies ladies 40Km

Patience Otudung Abasi from Nigeria beats two Ghana cyclists to win the second edition of Obour Cycling Challenge female category followed by  Abigail Tetteh as she secured the second position whilst Ellen Anium took the third spot.

The competitive race which was in a distance of 40km, recorded an average speed of 21.54 and a time of l hour 41 minutes 58 seconds.

The top three positions in the women’s category were Ist position Patience Otudung Abasi(500), 2nd position Abigail Tetteh(300) 3rd position Ellen Anim(200).

Mr Emmanuel Obour awarded pasts Cyclists who have significantly contributed to the development of Cycling in Ghana namely,MR Emmanuel Wayoo,MR William Afful,MR Hammond Martey and MR Francis Tetteh.

The next edition of the Obour Cycling Challenge is expected to be even bigger, with the organizers promising to host an even more spectacular event in November.
