The ancient tourism town of Cape Coast will be full of fitness joy on Saturday, September 27 with the upcoming ‘After Afahye Health Walk’.

The event which is sponsored by Vision 2030 PlusTrading is being organized by the National Sports Authority in collaboration with the Regional Cordinating Council, Cape Coast Metropolitan Authority and Oguaa Traditional Council.

A number of youth organisations, keep fit clubs and schools have been invited to join the Walk which starts from Pedu Junction and ends at the famous Victoria Park.

According to Ken, an official of the NSA, the event is expected to be grand as they have put in a lot to plan, and the participants have been waiting for it to happen.

He called on all Cape Coast people, both young and old to be part of the Health Walk because it is going to be beneficial and entertaining.

The pulse of global HipHop and Breaking culture converged in Montpellier as the Africa HipHop Connexion edition of the Afrobreak Concept Championship unfolded, hosted by the Africa Breaking Academy. This dynamic gathering was part of the prestigious Montpellier Africa–Europe Biennial, serving as a landmark event celebrating creative expression, cultural exchange, and the unifying spirit of HipHop.

Participants hailed from an impressive roster of countries including France, Ghana, Algeria, Zimbabwe, Mauritius, Cameroon, Togo, Guinea Conakry, Ivory Coast, the Netherlands, and Germany, representing the diverse heartbeat of the global HipHop community.

At the center of the event were the electrifying 1 vs 1 Breaking Battles, 7-to-Smoke showdowns, 2 vs 2 Continental Battles, and the crowd-favorite Africa Team vs Europe Team Exhibition Battle. These thrilling face-offs were not only a spectacle of elite talent and street-born artistry but also a gateway—the MVP of the championship earned a direct qualification to the prestigious Afrobreak International Africa Finals in Ghana, setting the stage for global recognition.

A cultural convergence through championship went beyond the competition floor, weaving a rich tapestry of cultural programming that included documentary screenings, Masterclass dance workshops, and a HipHop conference, offering artists and attendees an immersive journey into the soul of African and diasporic urban culture.

Nii Kwashi Kwei Nsro (Emmanuel Quaye) has called on the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) to be strict on medical issues concerning professional boxers and ensure regular check ups.

Speaking on the death of popular boxer. Ernest Akushey aka Bahubali he expressed that ignorance is making people lose their lives.

The Canada based businessman said boxers must get the right training from the right trainers and coaches to avoid sudden deaths

Quaye, who was once upon a time Vice Chairman of the Greater Accra Region Amateur Boxing Association expressed that the nation currently does not have super stars who can emulate former champions.

He observed that the amateur team is not strong because there had not been contests to select the best boxers, while there are only a few promotions for professional boxers, making them not to prepare adequately.

He was concerned about the sudden death of the Chorkor based Bahubali and advised boxers to be concerned about their health.

Nii Kwei Nsro called for an Election to make the Ghana Boxing Authority stable in managing their affairs.

"There are problems that must be solved so we need reforms and new ideas" he stressed.

He advised the GBA to be strict on health matters, and boxers must also be interested in knowing their health status and be safe.

The news on the sudden death of Chorkor based Super Middleweight boxer, Ernest Akushey aka Baubali has shocked the entire boxing fraternity in Ghana.

He was reported dead in the early hours of Tuesday September 23.

Bahubali was a boxer who entertained his fans before and after bouts as he was a great talker who hyped his bouts. He never got angry.

He was a warrior, and a man who did not fear his opponents. He was very humble and respected a lot.

In the ring, he fights with his heart, and outside the ring, he was the fans favourite,  the crowd just loved the way he hyped his craft.

He will never be forgotten as a personality who made boxing fans happy.

Currently he is the most popular and the one who has brought fans to the boxing arena.

Bahubali was a jovial pugilist with raw passion, courage, and power, though he may not be skilful and crafty, he squares up with antics and funny strategies

He had the spirit of boxing in abundance, though he may not have started on time and did not taste juvenile boxing. however he did a few amateur rounds before turning professional.

He trained at the Wadada Gym at James Town alongside the legendary Bukom Banku aka Braimah Kamoko who sparred with him.

Bahubali made his mark and his name in Ghanaian boxing circles when he met Elvis Ahorgah aka Soldier Boxer on June 29. 2024. He also fought Jonathan Tetteh for the National Super Middleweight Championship on 10th May. 2025 before facing Jacob Dickson who is a Cruiserweight boxer in a challenge (his last fight) on September 12. 2025.

All his opponents are power punchers and he did his best to seal the vacuum of exciting boxing.

He revived boxing when Atsiagbeshie was the other of the day and boxers feared to face each other. He was fearless and even challenged opponents heavier than him.

Indeed Ghana Boxing has lost a hero. He did not win a title but he was popular than many title holders.

Akushey had a record of 8 fights, 2 defeats with 6 victories, with 5 of those wins coming by way of knockouts hence commanding a knockout percentage ratio of 75 percent.

Bahubali, was a typical orthodox brawler with an enviable 36 rounds of boxing.

The boxing fraternity is really saddened by the loss. He left behind his wife and one child.

We pray for his soul that the Good Lord will keep him. Bahubali Rest In Peace.

Frank Appiah aka Alonso was declared winner of the special Snooker Competition held at new pub La Farmacia in Accra on Monday 22nd September to celebrate Ghana' Founder's Day.

The trader at Katamanto Market defied all odds and opposition to beat a galaxy of Snooker Stars who took part in the event.

He thanked all his fans and supporters after the competition and promised to train hard to represent his region or country in future international matches.

The second position went to Antwi Anim, a student who also played well in the classic tournament which attracted distinguished spectators.

The management of La Farmacia congratulated the winners and all participants.

Plans are advanced to organise more competitions on special occasions.

The Accra Academy 1980 Year Group, popularly known as Bleoo ’80, has presented assorted drugs worth an undisclosed amount of money to their alma mater as part of activities marking the Golden Jubilee of their admission into the school.

At a short ceremony on campus, President of the group, Mr.Robert Kofigah, said the donation was inspired by the group’s desire to promote the well-being of students and staff.

“Today marks exactly 50 years since we entered this great school, and we are grateful for everything Accra Academy has made us. We believe this is the time to give back in a meaningful way,” he stated.

He emphasized the importance of good health to academic excellence, saying: “A healthy mind can only be found in a healthy body. That is why we found it expedient to equip the school with these medications. This gesture is our way of ensuring that students can focus on their studies without unnecessary health worries.”

Mr. Kofigah also highlighted the consistent role Bleoo ’80 has played in supporting the school, citing their contribution to major projects including the construction of the Northgate. “Our year group has always been among the torchbearers of the old boys. The Northgate project is just one of the many ways we have shown our loyalty. I want to assure the school that Bleoo ’80 will continue to contribute and offer services to strengthen the Accra Academy brand,” he assured.

Receiving the items on behalf of the school, Mr. Kofi Yesu, Assistant Headmaster (Administration), expressed profound appreciation to the year group.

“We are so grateful that after 50 years, Bleoo ’80 has remembered their alma mater in such a remarkable way. This donation will go a long way to support the health needs of our students and staff,” he said.

He further lauded the year group’s dedication to the school’s growth and urged current students to learn from their example. “The students of today must emulate this spirit of loyalty and service. What you are witnessing is proof that Accra Academy does not just shape academic minds, but nurtures lifelong bonds of commitment,” Mr. Yesu remarked.

As part of their Golden Jubilee celebrations, Bleoo ’80 has lined up a series of activities including a Thanksgiving Service at the school and an excursion to the Safari Valley Resort.

The donation, according to school authorities, is not only a reflection of gratitude but also a call to action for other year groups to continue supporting Accra Academy in diverse ways.

Young rising star Africanus Neequaye will be the attraction as he faces Daniel Quaye on the much anticipated Ayitey Powers Promotions bill dubbed 'Judgement Day' on Saturday September 27 at the Bukom Boxing Arena.

Both boxers were given the opportunity to brag and after the exchange of words on the streets, it is now action time in the ring.

Africanus Neequaye who was on ‘The Big Fight Night’ on Omashi TV said he is going to teach his opponent a few lessons as he is a better boxer destined for greatness. He named American champion Terence Crawford as his idol and inspiration.

According to him, since childhood he has been regarded as majestic and now is the time to reign as a hero for Africa.

The Labone SHS product revealed that he was named Africanus to be a champion for the whole of Africa.

With a record of nine fights and nine wins with no loss, he noted that the journey to stardom is about to begin with the upcoming bout.

The product of Jamestown Boxing Gym who is managed by Michael Amoo-Bediako said he is the next good thing to happen to Ghana Boxing.

Meanwhile, Ayitey Powers will feature other exciting bouts and musicians on his show.

Charles Tetteh who won best boxer on the Max TV Boxing League faces a Nigerian opponent. Michael Abban, Sunday Adeleye and some top fighters are on the bill.

Mustapha Kamoko, son of Bukom Banku will clash with Michael Darko the Chorkor Dynamite. while Awar One Rasta will perform alongside others.

Mr. Thomas Kwaku Kumordzi of the National Sports Authority (NSA) was part of the participants who completed the recent stadium security course.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA), in collaboration with the Confederation of African Football (CAF), recently organized a workshop on stadium safety and security. The three-day training was part of the continent-wide CAF Safe Stadium Initiative, which aims to standardize safety measures and prevent stadium tragedies.

The "CAF Safe Stadium Initiative Workshop" was held to enhance the knowledge and skills of security personnel to ensure safer football experiences for everyone.

The training was held at the GFA headquarters in Accra from Tuesday, September 16, to Thursday, September 18, 2025.

Attendees included Safety and Security Officers from all 18 Ghana Premier League clubs, members of the GFA Security Committee, and 16 Regional Sports Police Officers.

The training was conducted by CAF security experts Xololi Nokithula Vilakati from Eswatini and Sylvanus Obi from Nigeria.

The intensive training covered a range of essential topics:

CAF Safety and Security Regulations: A review of the continent's official guidelines for football match security.

Accreditation and Access Control: Techniques for managing entry to the stadium for various personnel and stakeholders.

Crowd Management Techniques: Methods for controlling large crowds to prevent crushes or disturbances.

Pre-, During-, and Post-Match Security Protocols: Procedures for ensuring a secure environment at all stages of a football event.

GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku emphasized the importance of the training in creating a safe and peaceful atmosphere for football in Ghana, particularly in light of past stadium tragedies. The initiative is part of a broader CAF effort to ensure that all football events, from local league matches to continental competitions, are hosted in a secure environment.

Upon successful completion of the workshop, all participants were awarded certificates.

According to Kwaku Kumordzi, the course was very good and they have been well equipped to work better, effectively and efficiently
