The government has decided to cater for the Coronavirus testing of players and officials of clubs ahead of
the return of the local league next month, the Presidential advisor on health Dr. Nsiah Asare has confirmed.
During an address to the nation on Sunday night on Covid-19 by H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, he announced that the restrictions on football have been lifted to allow clubs to commence training in anticipation to the start of the Premier League and the Division One League in October.
To ensure safety and avoid the spread of the Coronavirus disease, all players and officials of clubs will have to be tested before training resumes.
According to Dr. Nsiah Asare, the government as part of its commitment to fight the pandemic will absorb the cost of testing for all these clubs.

“The government of Ghana will absorb the cost of the COVID-19 for all the clubs just as it was done for the national teams that begun camping.
“They are many and the cost is huge but the government is committed in fighting this pandemic”, the Presidential advisor said in an interview with Kumasi FM.
He added, “They will be tested right after they begin camping and another will be done when the league commences and in the middle of the league. Ours cannot be done regularly as it’s been done elsewhere”.
Clubs have embraced the return of football and are already making plans ahead of the start of the new football season.
