Aspiring Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation President Alhaji Dauda Fuseni has called for a rebranding of the sport and reorientation of the whole organization.
Speaking to coaches in a recent campaign trail, the current Vice President who is going for the ultimate leadership role expressed his sorrow over the dressing and kitting of the national team while they were going to represent the nation at the IBA Men’s World Championship in Dubai with no uniformed attire.
He noted that the GBA has memo of understanding with BoxUp, a kits manufacturing company who have committed to supply the Black Bombers with boxing equipment; gloves, boots, mouth pieces, shorts, bandages, head gears, trunks, punching bags, travelling bags etc.
He stated that appearance of the team and officials is very important in attracting corporate sponsorship and media partnership.
Incumbent Treasurer, Mustapha Nettey and Second Vice President Solomon Otoo respectively promised an open door administration if they are given the mandate again.
According to Nettey, spokesperson of the team, the Benard Quartey administration has not been transparent with the stakeholders, and want a new leadership with Nii Adama Addy aka Nii Gonti Adjor 1, owner of The Gym and former manager of Joseph Agbeko as the First Vice President.
He said Ghana always has potential to win medals in boxing, but motivation has been poor and doors for opportunities which should be open for boxers and trainers are closed.
“We promise to open all doors of opportunities for boxers, coaches and even media” he said.
