Mr. Emmanuel Olla Williams has described the recent visit of His Royal Highness Prince Edward, The Duke of Edinburgh to Ghana as very important and significant because it has motivated many young people who are doing sports.

The former director of youth programmes at the Ghana Olympic Committee said sports unites people and the visit would strengthen the already strong relationships between Ghana and the United Kingdom.

He prayed that Tug of War which was once an Olympian sport would return to  be part of the modern day Olympic activities.

The  two-day visit of Prince Edward was aimed at strengthening the modern partnership between Ghana and the United Kingdom, with a focus on education, climate-smart development, inclusive sports, innovation, and Commonwealth cooperation.

The Duke arrived on Sunday and undertook series of high-level engagements in Accra and Aburi, highlighting shared values between both countries and the UK’s support toward Ghana’s development priorities.

At the Sports Day event, the Duke visited the Tug of War stand and boxing legend Professor Azumah Nelson who was one of the guests presented a boxing gloves to him.

Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, UK urged young sports people to take sports serious, during the UK-Ghana Sports Day at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Sports Day featured sports like rugby, football, tennis, bowling, table tennis, volleyball, draught, golf, chess, e sport, tug of war, and others.
