Black Queen Striker Doris Boaduwaa thank fans for support

Doris Boaduwaa scored a brilliant hat-trick while Comfort Yeboah added a stunning strike to seal Ghana’s place at the next continental tournament in Morocco next year.

She thanked God for her form because during the last WAFCON in Morocco, she found it difficult to score. The multiple awards winner believes the Queens can become African champions.

The second-leg performance delighted fans at the Accra Sports Stadium who chanted and cheered the Black Queens to victory.

Swedish coach Kim Bjorkegren has transformed the team and the players played their roles very well from the goal keeper, defenders, midfielders and forwards.

“We are just getting better and better,” Bjorkegren said after the qualification, praising his youthful squad’s progress.

The coach expressed optimism about the team’s continued development as they prepare for next year’s continental competition.

He described the Black Queens’ advancement as a sign of a promising future for Ghanaian women’s football.

Boaduwaa expressed satisfaction with her hat-trick performance, which proved decisive in the comprehensive victory over Egypt. Midfielder Evelyn Badu, who played a key role in the thrashing, pledged that the team would push for World Cup qualification at the tournament.

“We will make sure we qualify to the World Cup,” Badu said after Ghana sealed their WAFCON berth.

Josephine Bonsu and Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah who played for the first time at the Accra Sports Stadium were satisfied with the support and success.

The Black Queens, thrice runners up placers  join hosts Morocco and 10 other qualified nations for the 2026 tournament, which serves as the African qualifying route for the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Ghana’s dominant aggregate scoreline of 7-0 after winning the first leg by three goals demonstrates their readiness to compete at the continental level.

The qualification testifies an eventful experience  for Bjorkegren’s young squad, which has shown consistent improvement throughout the qualifying rounds.

A semifinal place at the tournament would guarantee Ghana’s qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

The Black Queens have been motivated by sponsorship from MTN, the leading telecom company.
