Central Region Kick Starts Regional Qualifiers In Functional Sports Competition

The exciting Oguaa (Central) Regional Functional Sports Qualifiers was held at the Victoria Park in Cape Coast on Saturday May 3, 2025 with many kids between the ages of 12 to 15 years and youth from 16 years to 20 years participating to test their strength, stamina, speed and fitness in general.

It was the first in the series of events heralding the Regional Championship which comes up in August.

President of Functional Sports League Ghana, Mr. Charles Owusu Ansah said “As we seek to develop functional sports as a competitive contest in Ghana, and a means to combat the growing number of preventable sickness, we also encourage the youth to start a carrier in functional sports through athletic engagement”.

He said the Cape Coast Qualifiers was exciting and hopes for more fun and competition in the other regional events, especially the Regional Championship in August.

According to Mr. Owusu Ansah, the General Marshall / Commander of the Fitness Revolution in Ghana, the event is an opportunity to discover talents & potentials.

“Mental barriers will be broken and limits will be pushed” he stressed

He hinted that from Cape Coast, the Functional Sports Train will move to Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, Sekondi / Takoradi in the Western Region, Bono, Ho in Volta, Koforidua in the Eastern and other regions.

The event was sponsored by High Protein Recovery, a new drink for sportsmen and women as well as people who love life.
