The Network of Ghanaians in the British Army (GIBAN) also known as GH Squaddies would like to commend the excellent execution by the Ghana Armed Forces in the ongoing fight against galamsey (illegal mining).
A statement signed by Elvis Annor, their General Secretary said the recent conundrum about the unprecedented spate of illegal mining activities (popularly known as Galamsey) has taken its relevant toll on the nation’s natural environment as well as its inhabitants.
He said the destruction of our water bodies, our arable and inhabitable lands as well as our rich cultural heritage are but a few of the many adverse effects of not curbing the increase in such illegal mining activities.
“It is heart breaking to see this level of damage” he expressed.
He noted that the reputable Network of Ghanaians in the British Army (GIBAN) would like to take this opportunity to offer their voices in the ongoing cancer and also to emphatically express their full support behind the government of Ghana in the relentless effort at fighting this disease.
He urged all meaningful Ghanaians, both home and abroad to throw their support behind the ongoing fight against the galamsay menace.
