Afrobreak International Championship Benin Qualifier 2023 was held on Saturday November 11.
Afrobreak is one of the organisations promoting Breaking at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The AfroBreak Championship International is on November 18, in Accra, Ghana, after a conference and workshop at the Nima Community Library where the French Embassy in Ghana will support and advise the contestants.

Kojo Barnni from Tarkwa displayed skill and determination to win last Friday’s PGA event at the Celebrity Golf Club in Sakumono, clinching the top spot in the last qualifying tournament ahead of the prestigious 2023 Goldfields Professional Golfers Association (PGA) Championship.
The prominent golf trainer outshined thirty-three seasoned golfers, including formidable opponents, to claim the coveted first-place cash prize.
The competition, a vital precursor to the tenth edition of the Goldfields PGA Damang Championship, presented a substantial total prize package of GHC 45,000, aimed at supporting golfers in their preparations.
Barnni's stellar performance over the four-day tournament culminated in a total gross score of 282. Notably, he maintained his composure on the greens, securing 70 points each on the first two days and concluding with impressive gross scores of 69 and 73 on the third and fourth days, respectively.
In a post-victory interview, an ecstatic Barnni shared his purpose to make a statement at the stimulating Celebrity Golf Club, acknowledging its toughness.
He emphasized his tactical use of the PGA Masters Championship as valuable preparation for the upcoming Damang event.
Achimota’s Lucky Ayisah got the second spot, beating Kwame Ligbidi and Vincent Cofie, both recording a 285 gross score. Alfred Kwame Nuamey, the Achimota qualifier winner, settled for fifth place after the four-day competition.
In the seniors' category, which featured eleven golfers aged 50 and above, Robert Allotey won the top position with a gross score of 225, surpassing Mahama Dawuda. Robert Degbe, Peter Korsah, and James Larry claimed the third, fourth, and fifth positions, respectively.
During the brief closing ceremony, Alhaji Ahmed Padori, the Operations Director of PGA, commended the golfers for their outstanding performance and urged them to intensify their training efforts for the upcoming flagship Goldfields PGA Championship in Damang.
Padori expressed gratitude to all involved in organizing the competition, extending special thanks to Goldfields Ghana for their continuous support of professional golf in the country.
Present at the ceremony were the outgoing tournament director, Rev Akwasi Prempeh, Ghana Golf President Leonard Okyere, and Roger Adamah of Goldfields Ghana.
They hailed the golfers who competed for their exceptional display and hoped for a higher performance at Damang.
The next Goldfields PGA Championship will be held from November 29 to December 2, 2023, at Tarkwa Damang.

PMsports foundation Tennis in Schools program competition was launched at Accra Sports Stadium Media Center.
Speaking at the event, CEO of PMSports foundation Peter Mensah said, the Tennis In School Competition (TISC) is basically born out of the Tennis In School Program (TISP) where we go into schools and run 10 weeks of active coaching, we have been doing this for the past 5 years, and now it's the time to set up the Tennis in School Competition.
Tennis in School Competitions will help the kids to enjoy the benefits of playing the sport.
Mr. Mensah added 'we will have many kids coming to the venues. We have three venues, which are Accra Sports Stadium, Ghana Tennis Club, Adabraka, and Mamprobi Astro Turf where the kids in those areas will converge, compete and enjoy the game of tennis. We anticipate over 1000 children in each venue. Kids will be selected from the three venues and will converge at the stadium for the final tournament.
According to the General Manager of PMsports Timothy Azirigo PMSports have also collaborated with Ghana deaf sports in Ghana and started the deaf tennis program, which is an inclusive tennis program. We teamed up with the School for the Deaf in Cape Coast and the Mampong School for the Deaf. Many of these kids are actively playing tennis through our initiative.
We also want to provide opportunities for kids such as officiating and tennis administration to kids who won't make it to the top of their tennis careers.

Last Thursday, the PM Sports Foundation concluded its highly anticipated Tennis In Schools Programme (TISP) at the prestigious Accra Sports Stadium
The event, organized in collaboration with the Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF) and the Ghana Education Service (GES), saw young tennis enthusiasts from 30 schools aged between eight and 10 years showcase their skills on the Frank Ofori Centre Court.
The TISP commenced with preliminary contests among schools in Osu, Adabraka, and Mamprobi, where talented children were selected to compete in the grand finals. The final event was a display of exceptional talent and sportsmanship, reflecting the success of the program in nurturing young athletes.
Stephen Boateng and Christabel Ansah emerged as the Best Boy and Best Girl respectively, showcasing their promising potential in the sport.
Additionally, special awards were presented to Xorse Mawuli, Roland Tagoe, Jude Opoku, Rebecca Tiennu, Vera Nortey, Richard Selasi, Raphael Appenteng, Felix Ohene, Roland Tagoe, and Grace Kotei for their outstanding performances during the competition.
In an interview, the CEO of the PM Sports Foundation, Peter Mensah, expressed his delight at the overwhelming turnout and the collaboration between the GES and GTF.
He emphasized the importance of providing young children with opportunities to excel in sports and education, and he reiterated the foundation's commitment to making the TISP an annual event. Mr. Mensah also called on potential sponsors to support the initiative and empower young athletes to reach their full potential.
Established in 2017 by Ghanaian tennis pro and philanthropist, Peter Mensah, the PM Sports Foundation aims to harness the transformative power of sports and education to positively impact the lives of young athletes.
In partnership with the GTF and GES, the foundation introduced the Tennis in Schools Program to expose tennis to a wide range of Ghanaian school children.
Through structured training and competition opportunities, the program identifies and nurtures talented players, providing them with the necessary support to excel in the sport.
As the foundation continues its mission to groom future tennis stars, it seeks collaboration and sponsorship to ensure the success and continuity of the TISP.

Upper West football continue to be in the headlines with the superb performance of the Steel Benders.
On Sunday, 5th of November 2023. Jirapa Steel Benders beat their arch rivals, Babile Young Stars 9-0 in a friendly match played at the Ganaa Memorial JHS park.
Jirapa Steel Benders is a division 3 side with a promising future. The club has many talented players and Mr James Bakayano Thompson is appealing to the GFA and RFA to support and promote footballers in the region.
Jirapa is a town in the Upper-West Region, it is made up of Academicians and sports men and women.
James Thompson who is one of the best athletics coaches in Ghana hails from Tizza in the Jirapa District. He says in terms of tourism, Jirapa has one of the best hotels in Ghana, they can also boast of quality pito in the country.
Jirapa Steel Benders is also promoting sports health and fitness to produce healthy people.

The DJ High School Fitness Challenge organized by One One One Foundation led by the Ghana Sanitation Ambassador, Mr. Emmanuel Olla Williams came alive at Cape Coast, Central Region over the weekend.
From Wesley Girls SHS where the Head Mistress led the students, the trip stopped at Adisadel College and went to St. Augustines College and Aggrey Memorial and Mfanstipim Schools.
All the SHS heads have embraced the programme which will move to other schools and regions.
Mr. Williams who was awarded by Women In Sports Association (WISA) said it is very good to combine fitness / sports and education as it makes the students very smart.
He thanked the GES, the sponsors and the school heads for supporting the concept and initiative.

Nii Botwe Laryea II, the Dzaasetse of Nungua has advised the current Black Stars players to be very humble and sacrifice a lot to be able to win the 2023 African Nations Cup.
He expressed his sadness any time the Black Stars fail since the 1982 victory in Libya and noted that something must be done about invitation and selection of players because not everyone has what it takes to play for the Black Stars at the high level.
The former football star said in their days players were very dedicated and loyal which are missing in the current players.
He said in their days a coach can select four players for a particular position and all the players are stars so the one with exceptional skills or most disciplibed get the nod to play.
He also tasked Ghanaians at large to pray for the Black Stars for the winning spirit to return,
“We have players, talent are abundant in Ghana, but it has taken us many years to win the African Cup, we have to investigate and find solutions to our poor performance and lack of interest by the fans to support the team” he said
Nii Laryea who is also chief of Kotobabi in Accra noted that personally he prefares a Ghanaian coach to handle the Black Stars.
He also urged the people of Ghana and Africans to patronize made in Ghana or locally made products to support the economy.

Registration has opened for next year’s annual Sidney Katz Junior Open championship.
In a statement issued by the executive director, Eric Kyei said, registration is opened and will end on December 20th, 2023. It would be followed by the draws for the event which will be held on Saturday, December 30th, 2023.
The championship will be held at the Accra Lawn Tennis Club, and is scheduled from January 1st to 6th, 2024, with a tennis clinic on the last day before the grand finals.
The competition will feature boys and girls 10s, 12s, 14s and 16s to further consolidate the transition plan from one age group to the other. The Junior Open Championship is being organized by Michael Nortey Educational with support from Accra Lawn tennis club.

The 4th edition of the Sydney Katz Junior Tennis Championship is scheduled from January 1st to 6th, 2024 at the Accra Lawn tennis club.
The weeklong Junior Tennis Tournament has generated great levels of excitement within the Ghanaian tennis fraternity.
The junior tournament is being organized by Michael Nortey Tennis and Educational Foundation in collaboration with Accra Lawn tennis club.
The competition will feature boys and girls 10s, 12s, 14s and 16s to further consolidate the transition plan from one age group to the other.
The tournament is scheduled to end with a tennis clinic early in the morning, which will be led by former Davis Cup player Michael Nortey. This will be followed by the grand finale.
The President of Michael Nortey Tennis and Educational Foundation, Mr. Michael Nortey said the tournament aims to groom the next generation of tennis talent.
“The tennis event was the brainchild of his former protégé, Sydney Katz, who will also touch down in Ghana to support and to grace the tournament.”
