Two Bono Region based Premier Division clubs, Bofoakwa Tano and Nsoatreman will clash in 2024 MTN FA Cup Final scheduled for the renovated University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Legon, Accra at a date to be announced.

Nsoatreman led by newly appointed Black Meteors trainer, Coach Maxwell Konadu secured their spot in the MTN FA Cup final after defeating Legon Cities 2-1 in an exciting rainy semi final encounter.

Bofoakwa Tano also emerged 2-1 winners over Dreams FC in another interesting game. Earlier they had threaten not to honour the match due to financial difficulties, but after winning  they have decided to play in the continental competition if they win the cup.

Both matches were played at Sogakope WAFA Park aka Red Bull Arena.

The matches exposed some new stars with coaches of both clubs plotting plans, tactics and strategies to prove they are the best and capable of going to Africa.

Aboagye Dacosta and Elijah Addai scored for Bofoakwa in the Semi Final. As Abdul Manaf Umar, Foster Apertorgor and Mohammed Abdul Rahman were stars for Nsoatreman.

Coach John Eduafu of Bofoakwa hailed his players for their determination and discipline to edge out the defending champions.

Officials of MTN Ghana also expressed their gratitude for the fans who defied rains to attend the matches.

Power-punching Accra-based Nigerian boxer, Joshua Seunzy Wahab, who trains at the Charles Quartey Boxing Gym, has secured the most significant fight of his career, attracting millions of potential satellite TV viewers.

The 26-year-old, who has lived and trained in Ghana for the past eight years, has been given a dream opportunity to compete for the WBC lightweight silver title in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday, May 18th, 2024, against a fast-rising and undefeated English boxer.

Wahab is set to face British lightweight title contender John Mark Chamberlain in what promises to be an explosive bout preceding the highly anticipated main event between Alexander Usyk and Tyson Fury.

"It's been a tough journey for me, but I have been praying and training all my life for a moment like this. By God's grace, the time has come, and I am fully ready for the biggest challenge of my career," said Wahab.

The West African boxer has been training intensely in Accra in preparation for the global boxing event.

Meanwhile, all eyes will be on the main event of the night when heavyweight champions Tyson Fury and Alexander Usyk vie for supremacy.

The two heavyweight titans will battle it out for all four belts on May 18th, after their original February date was postponed due to a cut Fury sustained in one of his final sparring sessions.

The Charles Quartey Boxing Foundation head trainer and his team left Accra Kotoka International Airport on Saturday to catch up with their boxer Wahab Oluwaseun who is already on his way to Saudi Arabia for the WBC Silver Lightweight title fight against Mark Chamberlain of Britain on May 18th which is on the undercard of Tyson fury & Oleksandr Usyk show.We wish him all the best.

Former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) Lightweight Champion, Emmanuel Tagoe has tipped his gym mate WBO Africa Featherweight champion John Laryea for greatness if he remains focused, disciplined and committed to his coaches and training schedule.

Tagoe aka Game Boy who trains at the Bronx Gym at James Town with other boxers including undefeated Laryea aka ‘Expensive’ under the tutelage of Coach Carl Lokko believes the gym has what it takes to more world champions for Ghana bexause of their discipline and ambition to become great.

He noted that all boxers at the Bronx are respectful, dedicated and committed to what they love doing.

According to Tagoe, John Laryea who is undefeated is in good hands, with Mr. Sammy Anim Addo and multiple awards winning boxing manager, Mr. Peter Kahn, so if he gets the chance to travel to USA, he could change to become better, unless he is complasent.

Tagoe said boxing is exciting to watch, but very hard to play and very serious if you are a champion with everyone targeting you, so one must be very tough to succeed.

Professional golfers from various clubs across the country are feverishly preparing for the next in the series of qualifiers for the Road of Damang.

Following the successful tournament staged for the Golden Classic qualifiers at the Center of the World Golf Course in Tema, the leadership PGA Ghana has lined up its second flagship tournament, PGA Masters, scheduled between 6th - 8th June 2024 at Damang Golf Club in the Western region.

This tournament is to fulfill the Road to Damang objective of selecting twenty-two players to represent Ghana in PGA Open 2024.

However, with the Asantehene open tournament also expected to be played in June and one of the requirements to avoid playing pre-qualifying towards Asantehene Open is to be among the first ten players on the order of merit of PGA Ghana.

Therefore, this tournament is very crucial to players who are outside the top ten on the order of merit table and equally those within.

Due to the situation at hand, the stakes have become very high level and stakeholders within the golfing fraternity are likely to expect fierce competition among the players including good results.

All the top guns in the game such as Vincent Torgah, Kojo Barni, Augustine Manasseh, Maxwell Owusu Bonsu, Emos Korblah, Brave Mensah among others are expected to take part in the PGA Masters in Damang.

With the emergence of some new faces especially within the junior professional circles one can also a huge surprise during the three-day competition.

Speaking from his UK based at the Panshanger Golf Complex after a session with members of the Akwaaba Society, Alhaji Ahmed Padori who is the Director of Operations PGA indicated that he is expecting a tough and competitive tournament.

“I have picked up information from Ghana that the golfers are gearing up for the competition with daily training  and I can only hope that the level will always improve as we have been witnessing during  past competitions” he expressed.

Edwin Gadayi and Janet Mensah of the Sagnation Club, Ashanti Region won the seniors races respectively in men and women 100meters at the first show dubbed Tamale Open Meet of the GNPC GFH held at Held At The Alhaji Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on Saturday 11th May, 2024.

The two who participated at the 13th African Games for Ghana were in good form and really thrilled fans as expected and won in good times.

The Tamale Meet which was highly patronized by students from tertiary and SHS was graced by the presence of the Minister of Youth & Sports Hon. Mustapha Ussif.

From Tamale the next meet is at the Cape Coast Stadium on May 25, then Kumasi Baba Yara Stadium on June 15 before the final of finals at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon, Accra on June 29, 2024.

Expensive boxer, John Abaja Laryea, the WBO Africa Featherweight champion celebrated his 24th birthday with a special Kenkey party at the Bronz Boxing Gym.

In attendance were his management team led by Mr. Sammy Amin Addo, friends of the gym, colleague boxers and fans. Everyone present at the gathering was happy and had a lot of fun.

The undefeated boxer earlier in the day took to the streets of Bukom and generously gave back to the community by sharing refreshing moments with some kids in Bukom.

The 14th world ranked "expensive" boxer last year, celebrated his 23rd birthday in the ring, right after stopping his opponent Solomon Martey on the 6th round to win his 2nd WBO African Featherweight title.

John who is planning to train and fight in the USA said "I will make sure i win my first international bout on the 31st of May and dedicate it to my fans and all Ghanaians as appreciation for their support all these years, and possibly have a post-birthday celebration". He jokingly added.

Mr. Samuel Anim Addo, local manager of John Laryea thanked everyone at the event and hope for the best for young boxer to be a world champion.

Chairman of the MTN FA Cup Committee, Mr. Wilson Arthur says the Semi Finals of this year’s competition are special, and going to be exciting because they are being played during Mothers Day celebrations.

He said the gate to the Red Bull Astro Turf will be free to all mothers and they are going to enjoy great sporting entertainment by the sponsors and the clubs.

The clubs set to battle this weekend are Nsoatreman FC, Bofoakwa Tano, Legon Cities, and defending champions Dreams FC.

Nsoatreman FC and Legon Cities will set the ball rolling when the two Premier League sides meet in the first semi-final on Saturday, May 11.

Later on Sunday May 12, Dreams FC battle Bofoakwa Tano in the other semi-final match.

All two semi-final matches in the MTN FA Cup at Sogakope will be shown live on Max TV and Star Times.
