Ghana Kickboxing Association bids farewell to former president Lt. Col. Sharpe

The president of the Ghana Kick Boxing Association, Mr, Raja Owusu Ansah and the Technical Director, Derrick Macaire were present at the burial service of Lt, Col. John Sharpe over the weekend.

They represented all Kickboxers in Ghana who were mourning their former president Lt. Col. John Sharp.

Former GKBA President Col. John Sharpe, 86 died on Thursday December 3, 2020.

He was a keen sports enthusiast who contributed massively to Ghana Amateur Boxing and kickboxing.

He was a member of AIBA, the international amateur boxing association, and also held position as president of the Ghana Kickboxing Association.

He encouraged many boxers in the amateur ranks, especially soldiers. He also tasked the the media to promote sports, especially boxing and kickboxing.

During his time, many kickboxers were able to travel out to fight outside Ghana and they won many titles.

Nii Adote Dzata and Joe Mingle took over the presidency from him to run the GKBA, with Mr. Yoofi Bohan as the former vice president.

Lawrence Nyanyo Nmai, president of the Pro Fighting Factory also paid his tribute together with members of the club.

“The entire Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation, Ghana KickBoxing Association and Friends of Boxing miss you. Rest In Peace” he said.

“Our past President. Sir, thank you for your service to your Nation and the Association. Damarifa Due. Hede Nyuie” said Raja Owusu Ansah, the current president.
