Coach Alhassan Waliwu who represents the Northern Region of Ghana in boxing matters, programmes and projects has commended and congratulated organisers of the 4th Boxing Ghana Awards for putting them in the lime light.
He said due to lack of equipment and interest in some parts of the north they find it difficult to recruit and train young boxers, unless the person and his parents have interest in boxing.
"We are doing our best and such recognition and people seeing us in the media can confirm that we are part of the Ghana Boxing people. We have good boxers up there, but it's difficult to train without equipment and motivation" he said.
Alhassan Waliwu, an employee of the National Sports Authority in Tamale noted that Boxing Ghana is doing a good programme with the awards and more companies must come on board to support and reward the stars in boxing.
He was very happy that the north was part of the event, giving it a national outlook.
Ishmail Azindoo Baako. also from the north was given the Boxing For Good Award. while Waliwu was honoured with a Special Award for his contribution to the development of amateur boxing in the Northern Region.
