It is all over for Black Bombers at IBA World Championship in Dubai as Amadu and Ankrah lose

Medal hopeful Amadu Mohammed did not get the favour of the match officials as he was handed a unanimous loss to Asilbek Jalilov of Uzbekistan in the 54 kg round in his one sixteenth draw at the 2025 IBA World Championship in Dubai, UAE.

Earlier Ebenezer Ankrah had lost his chance to qualify to the quarter finals.

Both Amadu and Ankrah won one and lost one fight at the tough Championship that attracted 400 boxers from 108 countries. Emmanuel Mawuli lost his first fight.

Ghana did not go to the Championship with a coach as Akai Nettey who was supposed to lead the team got injured in an accident on a different mission with Besesaka Boxing.

Experienced Botswana coach had to sacrifice to support Team Ghana aka Black Bombers.

  • Mohammed Amadu won a gold medal at the All-African Games in 2024. He aims to repeat this achievement and inspire his teammates to win medals again this year.
  • Ebenezer Ankrah participated in the 2024 IBA Youth World Championships, advancing to the Round of 32 before his elimination from the competition. This year, he’ll aim to use that experience to secure a medal.
  • Emmanuel Mawuli, having already begun his professional career, has a record of 13-0 with 10 KOs which indicates his potential in the sport. With the advantage of professional experience, 20-year-old will be bringing his best on board.
