The evergreen Goldfields Damang golf course in the Western Region has drawn 72 elite golfers for the 2025 PGA Ghana tournament from Tuesday November 11 to Friday November 14.
The participants include 45 regulars, 14 seniors and 13 lady professionals from Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Cote d'Ivoire, Senegal, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Mr. Peter Damuah, captain of the Damang club welcomed the officials and players hoping for a successful tournament. He was concerned about the low participation of females and urged more women and girls to take part in golf as it could be a worthy profession.
Steve Robins, Senior Technical Manager Damang Goldfields welcomed the golfers and wished them a great tournament.
Alhaji Ahmed Padori, Vice President of PGA Ghana described the tournament as special and hailed the players for their commitment and dedication to golf.
He expressed his gratitude to Goldfields Ghana for coming on board again as headline sponsors and thanked them for investing in female golfers.
According to Padori, the PGA this season marks their 50th anniversary and hoped the players would be disciplined as they enjoy a wonderful experience.
Rev. Akwasi Prempeh, the Course Manager lauded the management and staff of Damang Goldfields for hosting the PGA for the eleventh time. He commended them for maintaining the course, keeping it green and fresh to host the latest edition of the prestigious event which has 60, 000ghc for the winner.
"I cannot make prediction like previous years because the lineup today is marvelous and anyone can win, I wish them good luck" he said.
Eric Henaku, Tournament Director who was elated with the foreign participation said it brings competition and the best out of the players.
Mr. Sampson Arthur, Operations Manager of Abosso Golf Club who teed off to symbolise the official start of the memorable event hoped for a successful tournament.
He said the tournament offers a platform to celebrate shared values and strengthen community connections.
Engineers and Planners are among the sponsors of the PGA tournament.
