Boxing Fans Support Ghana Professional Boxing IMC

Some boxing fans are beginning to fall in love with the Interim Management Committee (IMC) instituted by the National Sports Authority (NSA) and Ministry of Sports and Recreation to reset the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA).

In an exclusive interview with a boxing fan, Mitchy  on The Big Fight Night, she welcomed the IMC and commended the NSA and Ministry to put things in order.

She expressed her sorrow on the death of super middleweight boxer Ernest Akushey aka Bahubali because he entertained fans, but observed that not everyone can box.

She expressed that some people can look fit and strong but they are not cut for boxing.

She also supported the idea of improving medical investigation of athletes  and doping.

According to Mitchy, boxers go through a lot of things before climbing the ring, some or negative and unproductive due to ignorance and hoped that the IMC will organise workshops and conferences to address the issues and support the coaches and boxers.

She welcomed the recommendation of making Ghana a tourist destination through sports like boxing and suggested the idea of building statues for the world champions at visible places, to encourage young boxers.

She prayed that the IMC will achieve their purpose and objectives.

"We love boxing and are sad for the suspension or break for things to be done better, we hope that the IMC will succeed within duration and mandate given them" she expressed.

She appealed to the stakeholders to support the IMC because they have started work, and it is better to unite, focus and work together.

Some other boxing enthusiasts are backing the IMC, overshadowing the stakeholders and hoping they will come up with a blueprint to safeguard boxers, improve capability of trainers, screen boxers and financially support the boxing clubs.
