Bernard Abbey aka 'Kenya' has challenged Alfred 'ShowTime' Lamptey, former WBC Youth Featherweight Champion to a Lightweight contest.
Speaking on his social media platform, Abbey said he has admired Lamptey for a long time but now he wants to meet him in the ring and beat him because this is his time and era.
According to Abbey who is managed by Shiatse Management and Promotions he wants to offer Lamptey and fight fans something sweet because nobody knows what he can do, and he now wants to do it.
"I am ready, Lamptey can take all the money on the table but I will beat him" he said
He met Lamptey and told him in the face, but the former SWAG Award winner did not consider him serious and replied that he was moving forward and focused on bigger things.
"My name is ShowTime so I don't waste time on someone who doesn't have the boxing eye, am moving on, he is not rated in the high ranks, i believe he wants some hype" Lamptey stated.
However, the fight has generated public interest and supporters of both boxers have expressed interest in getting it done because boxing is what they do.
Alfred Lamptey (15-1-0) has held multiple titles and fought in countries like UAE and South Africa. He is managed by Alex Ntiamoah Boakye's Box Office and coached by Eben Adjei at the Black Panthers Gym.
Abbey (6-1-0) who was defeated in Georgia by their Olympic medalist believes he has gained the confidence and exposure to face a popular opponent. He trains steadily under Coach Augustus Dodoo.
Meanwhile, latest news is that Joseph Commey, the new National Lightweight Champion who is a gym mate of Lamptey has also called Abbey saying he has to face him before calling his senior, since Samuel Takyi is delaying.
