Dr. Mary Ashun, Chief Executive Officer of Ghana International School (GIS) has stated that in the current crowded world, GIS must tell their own story, with actual and accurate facts to the world, and Ghanaians must be proud of their international school that has existed beyond colonial rule and never stopped teaching and learning since its establishment in 1955.
At a press conference to highlight activities for the 70 years experience, she spoke about academic and extra curricular achievements chalked including the visit of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) President’s visit Ghana, impressed by the fundraiser that GIS Students - Kwabena and Ekow Enti organized to provide football boots to needy children.

Swimmer Oduma Agyei also recently represented Ghana at the World Aquatics Junior Swimming Championships. She is 11 years old and a member of the GH Dolphins club. She is no doubt one of the best swimmers in the nation.
She is a rising star who could even earn nomination for the SWAG Most Promising Star or SWAG Discovery of the year
The first international school also has very good badminton players who play for the national team.
For the Upcoming 70th Anniversary Celebrations: there would be Coffee Table Book documenting the school history and a short film to be premiered at the Accra Mall, Silverbird Theatre on September 2 September 2025.
The CEO noted that it must be worthy and essential to know the Pioneer Story: "From colonial-era vision to modern excellence - 70 years of breaking barriers"
She announced that on Monday 1st September, a special anniversary cake would be cut, alongside launching of the Coffee Table Book and unveiling of the anniversary cloth.
Wednesday and Thursday, September 3 and 4 would be for students social services including clean up exercises, while on Friday September 6, at a special assembly, the anniversary polo shirt would be outdoored.
Saturday September 7 is a sports / entertainment day, when students will feature in various sports events such as swimming, badminton, soccer and others.
