“From Grassroots to Glory: Hon. Julius Debrah Leads the Charge to Ignite Ghana’s Sporting Future Under President Mahama’s Vision”

Accra – The Chief of Staff, Hon. Julius Debrah, has affirmed his unwavering commitment to the transformational vision of H.E. John Dramani Mahama to unearth, empower, and elevate hidden talents from every corner of Ghana.

Speaking passionately about the power of sports to change lives and build a stronger, united nation, Hon. Debrah emphasized that Ghana is abundantly blessed with untapped talent—especially among the youth in rural and peri-urban communities. According to him, President Mahama’s bold ambition is to give every young person, regardless of background, the opportunity to rise to the top.

“In every forgotten corner of our country, there is a young dream waiting to be discovered,” Hon. Debrah stated. “President John Mahama’s vision is clear—to hunt talent from the grassroots and give it wings to soar. I stand with that vision, not from the sidelines, but at the very heart of it.”

He revealed that a sophisticated national program will soon be launched under the Presidential Special Initiative, specifically designed to scout, develop, and support sports talents in all 275 constituencies of Ghana. The initiative, he added, is not just about football—it embraces all major disciplines, reaffirming Ghana’s identity as a sports-loving nation.

Reflecting on the recent President’s Cup, Hon. Debrah shared that the passion, cheers, and nostalgic memories it stirred across the nation reaffirmed why investing in sports is both a social and national imperative.

“Let us find the next champion, the next leader, the next story of hope—from the streets of our constituencies to the world stage,” he urged.

Hon. Debrah called on all sectors—public servants, private sector leaders, influencers, and the media—to embrace this journey and play a part in giving hope and confidence to the next generation.

“Let’s build our nation with the grassroots. They are not just the base of our pyramid—they are the foundation and future of Ghana’s greatness.”

Reflecting on the 2025 edition of the President’s Cup, Hon. Debrah lauded the passion, energy, and unity that the historic match between Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak brought to the nation. He extended heartfelt congratulations to Asante Kotoko for emerging as champions and praised both teams for exhibiting exceptional sportsmanship, patriotism, and excellence on the pitch.

“Kotoko and Hearts reminded us all of the beauty of Ghanaian football—fierce in competition, but united in purpose. Congratulations to the champions and salute to both clubs for inspiring the next generation,” he noted.
