Samuel Martei Laryea, former UBO Africa Super Bantamweight Champion eyes fighting abroad

Samuel Martei Laryea, the former UBO Africa Super Bantamweight Champion says he has passed the local level as he does not see any boxer or opponent who can fight him.

"Right now, I am in a different class and stronger  so I want to challenge ranked boxers on the African continent and the world,  I think there is no one who can stand in front of me on the local scene " he said on The Big Fight Night' show on Omashi TV last Friday evening.

After nine bouts with seven wins, one lose and one draw, he believes the time is ripe to take bigger international offers.

He expressed that age is a factor in boxers' lives as they can not box at some age, so they have to use their time very well. He name Lukman Akinolugbede from Nigeria as his best opponent.

He thanked his coach George Smart Abbey of Accra Boxing Gym for his technical support as well as Ace Power Promotions and Management who are his managers.

According to Laryea, a proud son of Shiabu, near Chorkor disclosed that due to inactivity his title was stripped from him, but he is not bothered because the future is bright and he is looking forward for bigger opportunities

He announced that on 29 August he would be climbing the ring in Kumasi and promised to put up another wonderful show.

Also known as the 'Eagle Eye', he urged all his fans and supporters to watch out for greater things to come up very soon.

Laryea who loves Dance Hall music named Shatta Wale and Vice Cartel as his favourite artistes and the meal he enjoys most is wheat.

He pleaded with the leadership of Ghana Boxing to always consider the boxers and coaches who make the game sweet and stop doing things that would tarnish their image.

Martei Laryea has faith that Ghana can get another world champion if they are exposed in international competitions.
