Alex Ntiamoah-Boakye Calls For Serenity In Ghana Boxing And Support For Roger Barnor To Use Constitution

President of the Ghana Boxing Promoters Association, Mr. Alex Ntiamoa- Boakye has called for calmness, tranquility and unity among the Ghana professional boxing fraternity to ensure a smooth transition in the leadership.

Speaking on Omashi TV's popular boxing programme. 'The Big Fight Night' he expressed that the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has a constitution which should guide on how to manage issues.

He said there are procedures in their constitution,  however amendments can be made at Congress.

"As a body we work by rules and regulations and that should guide everyone" he stressed.

He noted that since the former President Abraham Neequaye has resigned and handed over the Second Vice President Referee Roger Barnor, it is in the good direction and all board members and stakeholders must support him to see to the progress of the Authority.

He said Roger Barnor has the experience, knowledge and capacity to steer affairs till a new substantive President is elected.

According to the ace promoter, the National Sports Authority and Ministry of Sports and Recreation do not have the right to interfere in their Elections since they know what to do to bring sanity to the administration of the sport.

According to him, he is not interested in contesting for any position, but would rather support the new incoming President and continue to organise attractive bouts and rise boxers as a promoter..

He hinted that the next promotion will be in September featuring boxers like National Super Middleweight Championship Jonathan Tetteh versus Obodai Sai and other exciting fighters like UK based Freezy Macbones.

Alex Ntiamoah-Boakye wished former President of the GBA,  Mr. Abraham Kotei Neequaye success at his new appointment and prayed that the problems and challenges at the boxing office would inspire him to perform well, since handling boxers and boxing fans is not an easy  job.

"We are friends and brothers working together in the boxing industry and misunderstandings should not let us litigate and lead us into separation, we are a family" he said.
