Soccer For Dreamers Donates Football Equipment To 10 Clubs In Ghana
Soccer For Dreamers, a 501(c) (3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization (NGO) based in New Jersey, USA on Thursday presented soccer equipment to ten female and male clubs from various parts of Ghana at the Accra Sports Stadium, Media Centre.
Soccer For Dreamers which is composed of three Ghanaian brothers born in UK but now based in USA, Baruch, Jed and Kayden Akwaboah and their mother, Mrs. Slyvia Akwaboah who is the President said the NGO started making donations since 2022 and this is the fourth in five years after playing with some skilful players at Tema and thought of what they can do beyond football, the future as well as what people do when no one is watching.
She recounted many beneficiaries and promised to continue as many lives are connected.
Mrs. Akwabuah disclosed that they have changed their name to AVODAH International to identify with their new outlook as they are currently engaged in digital learning, Ubuntu Coaching Excellence, Menstrual Poverty / Education and Ubuntu Online Academy.
She disclosed that this year is the fifth presentation and they hope to continue to serve humanity through football. She gave a lecture on menstruation and presented menstrual cups to the female players.
The beneficiaries, female clubs were GRA Ladies, Division One campaigners Sissamba Ladies and Halifax Ladies who also play in the top flight.
The male teams were Great Ambition of Bubuashie who have qualified to Division One, New Town Youth, A5 Rennes from Tema, Alhaji Babies, Kumasi Hope FC, Gucci FC and Corners all from the Ashanti Region.
According to Ms. Rosalind Amoh, Sub Editor at Graphic Communications Group and pioneer of Women’s Soccer, the recipients were carefully selected from the Greater Accra and Ashanti Regions.
She commended the donors who contribute to this initiative that has supported many soccer players and clubs who need the equipment.
Present were representatives of the GFA Foundation, Miss Barbara and Mr. Malcom Apedu who advised the players to be disciplined and shun illegal activities that can land them in prison.
Mr. George Aforklenyuie, Chairman of the Division Two League and founder of Vision FC urged the players to sign on to the Ubuntu Education platform online to enhance their future.
"So far we have donated to clubs in Greater Accra, Cape Coast, Volta and Eastern. This year is the Ashanti Region. Next year would be the turn of the Brong Ahafo Region" said Monsieur Stephane Lecosson, Ghana Representative of Soccer For Dreamers in an interview with Yours Truly.
Alhaji Oliver, an Executive of the Regional Football Association and Chairman Samuel Aboabiri were also present.
