National Welterweight Champion, Sampson Segbedzi has disclosed that he is now dangerous and explosive than before he won his enviable titles.

Speaking on Omashi TV's The Big Fight Night, he said travelling to Canada for training has really changed him. He thanked his management for the opportunity.

"In fact I have experienced a lot of new things and it is going to guide me and my target to become a bigger Champion" said the UBO Africa and PST Tanzania Champion.

According to Segbedzi, he received a rousing welcome at the gym he trained and his colleagues were very friendly and accommodating.

He urged his fans from Ashiaman to Chorkor to troop to the Bukom Boxing Arena on August 23 when he defends his National title against number 3 ranked Habib Kihende  Giwa.

The handsome pugilist also known as 'Mama's Baby' who trains at The Gym in Accra Central has not lost in 9 exciting fights. Some of his victims are Isaac Aryee and Isaac Commey, considered to be very tough boxers in the Welterweight division.

Some stars are born, other stars are made,  but Joseph Antwi is both. He says he was born to be special so he does things in different ways.

Antwi who was named Junior Bazooka by the original Bazooka of Boxing said he is always inspired by the name and that makes him terrible and devastating in the ring.

Speaking on The Big Fight Night on Omashi TV he thanked Ike Quartey for his motivation and Dr. Ofori Asare for his guidance and leadership that has turned many youth to be useful and regarded because they are working hard as boxers.

The Wisdom Boxing Gym has recently marketed and exposed itself as the gym of champions with the likes of the Bastie brothers, Haruna Mohammed the former Cruiserweight Champion and Theophilus Kpakpo Allotey the current WBO Africa Bantamweight Champion and National and UBO Africa Super Flyweight Champion. Theo's recent ranking as number 9 in IBO and number 10 at IBF Intercontinental is very assuring that they are climbing steadily.

According to Dr.Asare it takes a lot of negotiations and engagements as well as consultations and positive contacts to be rated and become a world champion.

He disclosed that Wisdom Boxing is like a home and school with massive discipline and the willingness to learn deep into boxing so all the boxers practising there are committed and dedicated to their goal.

"For Joseph Antwi (1-0-0), he is a special project because we have boxers who have won at the lower weight categories,  now we want to win at the heavyweight and he is the one we are grooming to become a world beater" he said.

Theo Lopez Allotey has seen the way and his colleagues will follow.

"We are taking the chances one by one, and we hope to reach the destinations" he stressed.

A number of Wisdom Boxing Gym members will be fighting on Bishop Promotions bill on August 23 at the Bukom Boxing Arena and Dr. Asare has invited boxing lovers to see the display of Antwi, Clinton, Haruna, Allotey and others.

The Street Academy at the Accra Arts Center which was registered as an NGO in 1993 held their 25th annual Health Walk on Saturday 12th July,  2025 through some principal streets of Accra.

Founder Ataa Lartey expressed his joy for another successful event and heart's desire to get an astro turf field where the kids can train. He thanked all his partners and sponsors as well as the media and the kids who contributed or participated in the Walk.

The Academy teaches several creative cultural subjects in visual and performing arts aside others like Mathematics, English, Science and History.

The Academy trains the kids in football, boxing, hockey, volleyball and table tennis.

The Walk attracted personalities like the MP for Odododiodoo Hon.Alfred Kotey Ashie, former three times IBF boxing champion Joseph 'King Kong' Agbeko,  Abraham Mensah a 2022 Commonwealth Games Silver medalist and veteran Nigerian boxer Makintosh who resides in Ghana and Don Ziggy an actor as well as some staff of the Centre for National Culture also took part.

Hon. Ashie said the Acadamy has stood the test of time and produces great personalities who are contributing to the socio economic development of the nation.

He appealed to corporate Ghana to continue supporting the Street Academy.

The Fresh King Agbeko commended the founder for discovering and grooming him to become a world champion. He urged the pupils and teachers to be disciplined and commit themselves to the growth of the Academy.

Abraham Mensah noted that he is a proud product of the Academy and thankes his fans who also joined to make the Walk successful.

The 'Sports & Cultural Academy for Street Children” was established in 1986.

The annual charity peace cup match played in honour of Dr. Nii Ayi Bonte II, the Gbese Mantse and Adonten of the Ga State has been launched on Thursday in Accra.

This year will see defending champions, Accra Hearts of Oak and Kpando Heart of Lions playing for honours on August 17, 2025 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

At stake is a giant trophy plus prizes for Best Player, Best Defender and Best Goalkeeper.

Mr. Samuel Anim Addo, the organizer said the 2025 edition is a special one to promote tourism, peace and unity in the country.

He noted that the there would be a float to out door the cup and create awareness.

He urged football fans to come to the stadium and patronise the match to boast tourism and the rich heritage of the Ga people and Ghanaians in general.

He hinted that the organizers are in talks with musicians like Bukom Banku, Tinny, King Jerry, Klala and others to entertain the fans.

He announced the gate fee for Popular Stand as only 5ghc, while the VIP will go for 100ghc.

Nii Armah Okpa, Ayaalolo and Korle Wonko chief who represented the Gbese Mantse gave some background on the ban on drumming and noise making that preceded the Homowo Festival and the need for development in peace and unity.

Representatives of Hearts of Oak and Heart of Lions boasted about their chances.

While Mr.Kwame Opare Addo, the PRO of the Phobians promised a sweet repeat, Mr. Stephen Botchway of Heart of Lions noted that they will revenge last year's defeat with a victory within duration time.

The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) have sent a goodwill message to Jonathan Mbanugu otherwise known as Jon Power who has a record of 17 fights, 15 wins, one draw and one loss. 14 of his wins came by knock out ahead of his WBO Global Light heavyweight title fight against Alban Bermeta of Albania (19-0-1, 15 KOs) this Friday, 11 July, 2025 at the Tirana Lake Amphitheatre, Tirana, Albania.

"The GBA is confident in the ability of Mbanugu to deliver on such occasions when the stakes are high. We want to assure him (Mbanugu) of the nation’s support as he attempts to bring the title to Ghana," said a statement signed by Roger Barnor, Acting President, GBA.

The statement was issued via the new Communications Directorate.

Mbanugu is from the stable of Osibor Management and Mr. Gordon Frimpong is confident of victory.

He said Power is now better than one year ago as he keeps learning and improving after every fight.

"We will win and come back victorious to face Ambitious Tilapia" he noted.

The upcoming 'Best of Bukom Boxing' bill has a number of mouth watering pairings like Stephen Coffie against Dwamena Kesse in a Super Featherweight contest.

Both boxers have traded tough words and fans expect them to trade criss cross blows in the ring.

The two boxes are equally matched in terms of records or fights.

Dwamena is 5-1-1 while Coffie who lost his last bout is 6-1-1. They have promised to teach other lessons and it is only the ring that can decide.

It is happening at the Bukom Boxing Arena on August 23 and it is the debut event of Bishop Promotions.

Other fighters on the programme are Commonwealth and African Games medalist Joseph Commey versus Victor Kuwornu for the National Lightweight Championship, 

Wisdom Gym products, Joseph Antwi aka Junior Bazooka will face Bentil Duncan in a heavyweight fray, Nana Adjei Clinton will face Chigozie Igbannaba from Nigeria in an international cruiserwtight contest,Theo Allotey, the WBO Africa Bantamweight Champion who has returned to his Super Flyweight takes on Klaklevi.

Abbey Kenya will clash with Nigerian Sunday Adeleye in a testing venture while Issac Commey fights Isaac Commey in 'the revenge', an elimination to the National Welterweight crown.

Pride of Ashiaman, Sampson Segbedzi who holds the National Welterweight title is on the bill.

The weigh in is scheduled for August 22.
