The Ghana Jiu Jitsu Federation has officially received a Provisional Recognition Certificate from the National Sports Authority (NSA ) to operate in Ghana as the 48th Sports Association.
The combat sport association has since 2017 been operating in the capital and regions and communities after formally applied to NSA for recognition.
They have metamorphosed into a body fit for development of professional athletes for the country in collaboration with the Authority as well as contributing to grassroot development of the sport nationwide.
The National Sports Authority, Ghana is currently nurturing over 15 new clusters of sporting disciplines, including indigenous sports like Ampe, Tug of War, Pillow Fighting, Breaking and Footvolley.

The athletics body made the changes to be in line with the changes that have been effected at the international level
The Ghana Athletics Association has now become Ghana Athletic with major changes made to the body at their latest congress in Kumasi.
According to the leadership of the body, the changes were applied to streamline and align with the world’s governing body of the track and field sport.
World Athletics, who was previously known as International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), adopted its new name in 2019 and rebranded the organisation.
Congress unanimously passed the new amendments while body also welcome three new members.
In the constitutional review procedure, six new regions were admitted to the body – Savannah, Oti, Western North, North East, Ahafo, Bono, and Bono East.
Meanwhile, Ghana Masters, International Technical Officials Ghana, and Mountain Trial Runs Ghana were all admitted as new members of the association.
Furthermore, a 7-member communication bureau was unveiled by the body to manage the communications affairs of the body – Bawa Fuseini, Charles Osei Asibey, Phillipina Frimpong , Baba Apidogo, Samuel Agbokitse, Emmanuel Appiah Kubi, and Daniel Janamah.

General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Mr. Prosper Harrison Addo believes in the FIFA conception that Women’s Football is the future, so they will continue to invest in the women’s game.
He announced on Wednesday at the Malta Guinness encounter with the media and clubs ahead of the continuation of the league with week 8 which was held at the GFA headquaters.
He said money for the clubs is ready and the GFA partnership with Max TV to show the league matches is growing steadily.
Harrison Addo noted that very soon only females will take up officiating and managerial positions at the club and national team level.
Marketing manager of Guinness Ghana Ltd, Dinah Adu-Asare who was excited with the return of the league congratulated the clubs and media.
She explained the reason for Partnership with GFA and Fueling a World of Good as Malta Guinness firmly believes in creating a “Can-Do” World.
“It is based on this premise that we launched the World of Good campaign to help people feel energized to achieve their dreams and aspirations. Over the years, we have been strongly committed to championing diversity and inclusion, creating equal opportunities for women, and promoting the progressive portrayal of women in our business and in our society” she said.
She expressed that for decades, many sporting activities including football, have been male-dominated because women have been discouraged from pursuing their sporting careers due to gender norms and misconceptions.
“Despite these challenges, there have been some progress toward gender equality in sports. The progress we have made since the start of the season will not have been possible without the unwavering support of several stakeholders, especially the media” she stressed.
Some players and coaches were rewarded with cash prizes for their brilliance, resilience, passion, exuberance, dedication and remarkable talent.
She announced that Malta Guinness is commited to establish a monthly awards for player of the month and coach of the month, and commended Coach Yusif Basigi of Hasaacas Ladies, Stella Nyamekye, player with Dreamz Ladies, Coach Joe Nana Adarkwah of Ampem Darkoa Ladies and Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah also of Ampem Darkoa Ladies for the outstanding leadership and performance.
She was confident the second phase of the league will see more exciting play and results.
On GGL Corporate Social Responsibility & Sustainability they have promised creating a World of Good, and launched a plastic collection drive on the sidelines of the season to champion sustainability and drive plastic waste recycling nationwide through community mobilization, engagements and partnerships.
The community-focused initiative has been held in Alogboshie, Kaase and Mallam- Gbawe, as a contribution to rid Ghana of plastic waste from one community at a time.
She adviced people to watch the Malta Guinness Women’s League thriller with excitement, and be reminded of the values football teach – fostering unity, community and igniting passion.
“Most importantly, let’s be reminded that women are capable of achieving far more than we have been made to believe. We must unlearn some norms that place women at a disadvantage. Whether it is pursuing a career in sports, aviation, mechanical engineering, furthering their education etc., women and girls can equally achieve everything they set their minds to.
“Let’s support the players, watch the matches and cheer them. Let us all work together to make Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League one of the most anticipated leagues in Ghana” she added.

“With God all things are possible” these were the words of head trainer at the Charles Quartey Boxing Foundation.
Coach Charles Quartey who doubles as the trainer of the national youth boxing team, the Black Rockets that all who have supported and prayed for them.
He said the doors of Charles Quartey Boxing Foundation are always open and they train daily.
He expressed that there are many youth who want to learn and train to become boxing as it is big business, and the fastest way to make money if one is very disciplined.
“We don’t go straight thinking we can beat everyone there, no, we that match after match and fight night after fight night, our boys try to do their best and I can say discipline and obedience is the secret” he said.
He thanked the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), the Media, Imax Media Promotions, Max TV, Premium Motors and the people of Adedenkpo, Timber Market, Bukom and all the boxing fans.

Malta Guinness, headline sponsors of the Women’s Premier League has awarded coaches and players for their sterling performance during the first phase of the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League.
The awards initiative is in fulfillment of Malta Guinness’ commitment to set up a monthly awards at the start of the partnership with the Ghana Football Association. The monthly awards will honour selected players and coaches each month for their outstanding performance.

The best boxer, 19 year old Charles Tetteh and Charles Quartey Boxing Foundation, best gym at the first season of the De-luxy Professional boxing league have received their brand new Renault vehicles from Premium Motors at am impressive ceremony in Accra.
Mr. Jihad Hijazi, CEO of Renault Ghana (Premium Motors) said he was proud to be part of the successful season, but was skeptical when he was approached, however the League has been professionally organized and promised to take it to the next level for more people to benefit.
Chairperson for the ceremony, Naana Adiki Manyeyo Adi 1, of the Royal Adibiawe at Ada congratulated and organisers and winners as well as the Premium Motors Ltd for their corporate social responsibility activities.
She said the youth have the energy for the nation and it is good to support and encourage the future leaders.

"Let's invest the taxpayers money in boxing, the talents are there in thousands we will get the results" he expressed.
Hon. Mustapha Ussif, the Minister of Youth and Sports said the De-luxy Professional Boxing League has been successful and he is excited for the exposure for boxers and sponsorship from Premium Motors and others.
He said government alone cannot do everything in sports and called for more corporate support. He urged other companies to emulate the example of Premium Motors so that the youth and Ghana Sports will be better and charged Sports Federations to package their products to be attractive like the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA).
Mr. Abraham Neequaye, President of the Ghana Boxing Authority thanked Imax Media Promotions for their contribution and commitment to the development and promotion of Ghana Boxing which saw them organizing 20 big fight nights during the period and rewarding participants with fantastic prizes.
He hinted that Imax Media Promotions has been hailed by Boxrec internationally for their splendid work and urged them to continue, he also thanked all other stakeholders who played a part in the exciting Boxing League. He announced that the League will be extended to other regions like the Volta, Ashanti, Northern and the Eastern to unearth more talents.

The Ghana flag is one of the flags on the streets of Saint Moritz, Switzerland ahead of the 2023 IBSF BMW World Championships.
Ghana will be there to compete, represented by the one and only Akwasi Frimpong who has improved and now registering good times.
He said training has been challenging, but he is ready - learning a track in 2 days.
He is out there fighting to improve his skills as a slider and using the opportunity to learn a track where he has very little experience.
"The track in Saint Moritz does not play to my strengths, but the only way to get better is by doing and challenging myself throughout the process" he said.
The men's races are on January 26 and 27th at 9 am local time (1am MST). Check out the IBSF YouTube channel. I’m 29th off repping Ghana and Africa.

Africa Breaking Academy goal is to usher and introduce the foundation of Bboying/ Breaking as a major element of Hip-hop culture and also as a Dancesport activity recognized as a new Olympic Sport to dance lovers and potential dance athletes who will represent Elmina and Cape coast at Afrobreak National Championship 2023.
According to Nana Tuffour Okai professionally known as Bboy Lyricx, the Founder of Africa Breaking Academy, “ABA is a non-profit organization that utilizes break-dancing and hip-hop culture as learning tools to effect positive change in Ghana and africa as a whole.
Bboy Lyricx, Team lead further explained; “Breaking or Break-dance is a dance-sport activity that combines sports and dance, that allows the practitioners to improve physical fitness and mental well-being, and also to form social relationships”.
