Ghana legend Tony Yeboah believes football in the country is completely dead, insisting the game has been killed by bribes and mismanagement by authorities.
The 57-year-old accused the Ghana Football Association (GFA) of not heeding advice from former footballers.
In his view, the current poor state of football in the country is a direct consequence of the GFA’s actions over the years.
“I don’t know what is going on because I don’t follow. Everyone knows Ghana football is dead because they didn’t listen to the advice we gave them from the beginning,” he said, as quoted by 3news.
“So I think they are currently facing the punishment. If you involve bribes and stuff like that in football, you will destroy the game.
“The only advice I can give them is that they should go back and train the kids for youth (football) and develop Colts football either than that it will be difficult to get top players like we used to have back in the day. It will be very difficult.”
Yeboah played for the Black Stars for over a decade and was part of the team that reached the final of the 1992 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Egyptian giants Al Ahly secured their 11th CAF Champions League title by coming from behind to draw 1-1 with Wydad Athletic Club in Casablanca on Sunday.
Mohamed Abdelmoneim proved instrumental in the victory, heading in a flicked goal in the 78th minute from an Ali Maaloul corner.
The draw gave Al Ahly a 3-2 aggregate victory, having previously won the first leg 2-1 in Cairo.
Abdelmoneim's decisive goal sent the Ahly fans into a frenzy, celebrating their team's triumph. The win was a redemption for the Red Devils, who had suffered a 2-0 defeat in the single-legged final against Wydad at the same venue last season.
The match was a fierce North African derby, characterized by intense battles in midfield and limited scoring opportunities. Wydad initially took the lead in the 28th minute through Yahya Attiat Allah's well-curled free-kick.
However, Abdelmoneim's late equaliser dashed Wydad's hopes of retaining the title on the away goal rule, making them the first Moroccan side to win back-to-back championships.
In the second half, Al Ahly displayed their attacking prowess, making substitutions to bolster their offensive efforts. Despite dominating possession, they struggled to create clear chances. Nevertheless, Abdelmoneim's crucial goal ensured they reclaimed the coveted trophy.
As the match neared its conclusion, both teams faced tense moments, particularly during Wydad's set pieces and drop balls. However, Al Ahly's resilient defence held firm, securing their victory and reaffirming their status as the continent's champions once again.

Uruguay beat Italy 1-0 on Sunday to win its first Under-20 World Cup title. The Celeste's victory ends a streak of four consecutive wins of European teams in the tournament.
Luciano Rodríguez scored the winning goal in the 86th minute in a header from close range, giving Uruguay a much deserved victory after an entire match of dominance against Italy.
More than 40,000 people, mostly cheering for Uruguay, attended the match at the Diego Maradona Stadium. FIFA President Gianni Infantino was also present.
Uruguay barely needed to count on its steady defense, which conceded only three goals in the tournament, all against England in the group stage.
The South American team had clear chances to open the scoring much earlier in a free kick taken by Rodríguez, two long distance shots by captain Fabricio Díaz and a header by Anderson Duarte that forced goalkeeper Sebastiano Desplanches to make one of the best saves of the tournament.
“This is crazy, crazy, crazy and we deserve it,” a tearful Rodríguez said after the match. “We are living a dream.”
Uruguay was so involved with the match in La Plata that the country's soccer association suspended Sunday's round of the national championship so fans could watch the final against Italy.
Italy's Cesare Casadei, the top tournament's top scorer with seven goals, had a disappointing performance in the final.
Italy coach Carmine Nunziata recognized Uruguay played better, but said the poor pitch affected his players.
“The pitch has penalized any player who has more skills,” Nunziata said. “We had an incredible run. This match doesn't cancel what we have done, playing all these matches is not easy. They were better than us today.”
Neither Uruguay nor Italy was among the favorites when the U20 World Cup kicked off on May 20, but unlike Brazil, Argentina and England they faced less resistance from clubs about releasing players for the tournament.
It is not mandatory for clubs to allow their players to take part in international youth competitions.
Uruguay lost the final of the tournament in 1997 and 2013. Brazil was the last winner from South America in 2011.
The title for the Celeste comes in the wake of Argentina's World Cup title in December, which also ended a sequence of wins of European teams.
Earlier, debutant Israel beat South Korea 3-1 to secure third place in the same stadium in La Plata.
Indonesia was initially scheduled to host the tournament, but the Muslim-majority country did not accept Israel’s participation. FIFA decided to hand the organization over to Argentina one month before kickoff.

Teofimo Lopez stunned Josh Taylor with a sensational boxing performance to win the WBO super-lightweight world title.
On Saturday night in New York, the 25-year-old American returned to the top of the sport and became a two-weight world champion.

— ESPN Ringside (@ESPNRingside) June 11, 2023
He is now a two-weight world champion
Lopez previously reached the summit when he dethroned Vasyl Lomachenko for the lightweight crown in 2020.
However, he lost the titles in his first defence to George Kambosos Jr the following year and returned with a controversial win over Sandor Martin in 2022.
On Saturday night though, Lopez was back to his best and one notable moment came as he found his rhythm in the middle rounds.
The American star executed a remarkable leaping punch and nailed Taylor, then proceeded to dance in the ring.
The fight began with a fast start as Taylor let off combination punches and targeted his opponent's body within the first minute.
Lopez smiled in response and picked accurate single shots.
By the end of the opener though, the challenger was left with a cut on his nose as the champion made his presence felt.
In round two, Lopez had some success keeping things at range and chose his moments to exchange with Taylor up close.
The American built on this in the third and fourth as he prevented the Scot from getting into an aggressive rhythm.
Instead, Lopez made the fight into a more technical boxing match and landed consistent clean punches when they progressed into the middle rounds.
Taylor sought to reply in round six, but found it hard to get inside past his opponent's left hook.
As they moved past the halfway point, it was far from a vintage Taylor performance and instead starting to evoke memories of his woeful display against Jack Catterall last time out.
The 16 months of ring rust did not do the champion any favours as he missed wildly and was taunted by his challenger.
In round seven, Lopez remained in control and did not appear to fear Taylor.
The Scot started to look slightly desperate as he jumped in with leaping hooks which did not reach the American's chin.
Taylor landed big left hooks to head and body in the eighth, but was again ultimately outboxed by Lopez, who even started dancing.
The champion looked baffled and had no answers as his challenger dominated round nine, landing consecutive hard right hands without shipping any punishment himself.
As they entered the championship rounds, Lopez remained completely in control and Taylor appeared clearly behind on the scorecards.
Taylor mounted one last desperate offence at the start of the final session, but could not keep it up and was then staggered by a counter from Lopez.
Lopez's body shots had Taylor holding on for the final minute and there was no doubt who was victorious when the final bell rang.
