Myhealthcop App Unveiled In Accra

Myhealthcop, a new digital app for information on wellness and preventive healthcare has been launched at an impressive ceremony at the Stanbic Heights in Accra.

It is powered by MYHEALTHCOP Ltd to foster and create awareness on preventive healthcare in a digital format via a mobile phone, tablet or laptop.

The unveiling was done by former football super stars Marcel Desailly, Anthony Baffoe, Mr. Irchad Razaaly, the European Union Ambassador Irchad Razaaly and Mr. Kwasi Tabury, CEO of MYHEATLTHCOP.

According to Mr. Tabury, the vision of MYHEALTHCOP Ltd is to ensure that every individual reaches an optimum level of wellness.

“We are working towards the realisation of this vision through the creation of an ecosystem which is based on the interaction of interconnected components to see to the fulfilment of this vision” he expressed.

“This ecosystem seeks to educate preventive and healthcare professionals and equip them with requisite skills and certification to best enable them to operate in the industry as well as create entrepreneurial employment opportunities through the use of MYHEALTHCOP Ltd’s digital platforms” he said.

“As a part of this ecosystem, we at MYHEALTHCOP Ltd understand the necessity of giving back to society in a bid to ensure our vision touches the underprivileged in society” he added.

“It is the time to take a pause to reflect on our well being. We believe that “One day can change your whole life” said Mr. Tabury.

He said they have streamlined a host of activities to celebrate preventive healthcare with nature as the focal point.

He called on the media to play a positive role in the campaign of Preventive Healthcare which is Medicine.

Three panelists, Dr. Austin Luguterah and Prof. Richmond Aryeetey both of the University of Ghana and Madam Adjele Akwei, a massage therapist of RIMA Thera Touch spoke on the functions of the human body to move, stress management, regular exercising and good nutrition as well as prevention of sugar, salt and fat in the body.

They tackled mental health and dos and don’ts at the gym where everyone has a purpose of visiting.

Mr. Baah Sekere-Agyekum, product owner /corporate business lead said the platform is more than just a collection of features; “it is a manifestation of our dedication to providing accessible, personalized, and comprehensive wellness solutions for all. The ceremony also addressed the celebration of the 3rd Edition of Global Wellness Day event themed #MagentaNature.  Global Wellness Day is a not-for-profit day, a social project dedicated to living well. It is a yearly event celebrated on the second Saturday of June.

The day is celebrated with numerous wellness activities to remind, inspire and create awareness to live healthier and take care of oneself.

This year’s theme is dubbed #MagentaNature. The aim is to remind people to #eat natural, #be in nature both physically and spiritually and above all #protect nature.

Supporting myhealthcop are the Ministry of Youth & Sports, Ministry of Health and a number of corporate bodies.

North African nation, Egypt has been chosen to host the next, 14th African Games.

The symbolic handing over of the African Union flag was done at the closing ceremony of the 13th edition of the African Games which was successfully took place in Accra, Ghana.

Hon. Mustapha Ussif, the Youth & Sports Minister of Ghana handed over the flag to the African Union (AU) Commissioner for Health, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, Minata Samate Cessouma, who then presented it to the Egyptian Minister of Youth & Sports, Ashraf Sobhy.

Ghana hosted the African Games for the first time since its inception in 1965.

This is the second time that Egypt will host the quadrillion sports festival.

Egypt placed first at Accra 2023 with a total of 187 medals (99 gold, 46 silver and 42 bronze).

Ghana placed sixth with 68 medals (19 gold, 269 silver and 20 bronze), making the sports authorities and Ghanaians happy, hoping to reach the top three in the next edition.

In his parting address, President Akufo-Addo expressed his pride and gratitude, emphasizing on how the event provided an opportunity to strengthen bonds and socio-economic relations between African countries.

The President extolled the high level of performance by the over 5,000 athletes and the dedication of officials and volunteers involved in the games.

"These games embodied the true spirit of African diversity, unity, and our common purpose of promoting our continent," he said.

"The outstanding performances, display of sportsmanship, and competition that produced personal bests, national records, and competition records will undoubtedly inspire upcoming athletes to aim even higher," the President added.

President Akufo-Addo articulated his delight that despite challenges, Ghana was able to provide world-class sporting facilities. He mentioned the construction and rehabilitation of facilities such as the Borteyman Sports Complex, University of Ghana Stadium, Theodosia Okoh Stadium, Achimota Cricket Oval and Bukom Boxing Arena, as proof of Ghana's commitment to sports development.

He was confident that the facilities would be maintained and serve as venues for training future champions and hosting local and international tournaments, as well as become the nucleus of a soon-to-be-established University of Sports for Development.

The President also expressed gratitude to all Ghanaians for their enthusiastic support of the athletes throughout the competition. He congratulated the athletes on their performances and urged them to carry their good form into the Paris Olympics to bring further glory to the continent.

"May the memories of these Games inspire us to work towards a brighter, more prosperous and more united future for Africa and her peoples. Accordingly, ladies and gentlemen, I have the pleasure to declare the 13th African Games (Accra 2023), successfully closed"

Ignatius Elletey Dances To Receive Flagship Award

The Transport Committee of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the 13th 'African Games has on Sunday evening organized an awards night at the Games Village, Legon to honour distinguished and outstanding drivers and volunteers.

Mr. Samson Deen, Chairman of the Transport Committee hailed everyone who contributed in diverse ways to see to the successful end of the Games which attracted over 5000 athletes, coaches and officials from 53 countries from February 25 when they began active service shuttling between 10 venues in Accra and Cape Coast..

Mr. Deen who is President of the African and Ghana Paralympic Committee said the awards is to show appreciation and motivate the winners to work harder

“Am happy to stand before and congratulate you for the wonderful results you have chalked. If what we saw at the stadium and closing ceremony is real then Ghana has done very well. I am happy and proud. You did it all” he said.

According to him a promise was made to award outstanding volunteers, so there is no promises and fail.

“There were difficulties and challenges but we are Ghanaians and you did well to serve and save the 13th African Games. It is a party for the drivers and volunteers, we didn’t know each other but now we are a family” he stressed.

Mr. Ignatius Elletey, a member of the Transport Committee was adjudged the most distinguished personality. He danced his way to collect his plaque and was applauded by the volunteers.

Certificates of participation were issued to over 450 volunteers and drivers who served the Transport Committee. The best three drivers and volunteers were honoured with medals, as done at the sports center, field, court or pitch.

Group volunteers were stationed at various venues like Airport who were first, Borteyman Sports Complex, Accra Sports Stadium, Trust Sports Arena, Accra International Conference Center (AICC), Alisa Hotel, Theodocia Okoh Hockey Stadium, Achimota Cricket Oval, La Boma Beach, Olebu and the Games Village, Legon.

Fans favoutite, Kamal was voted best driver, taking home a gold medal while other winners took the silver and bronze.

Mr. Kwesi Mantey, head of the Catering Committee commended the drivers and volunteers expressing how important they are and the opportunity they had to serve the nation and international guests.

He shared some experiences of various sports events hosted in Ghana which he was in charge of the food and pointed out Accommodation, Transport, Catering as the most important tasks to be resolved in massive tournament organization and management.

Present at the ceremony were members of the Transport Committee. aka Transport Management Operation (TMO) team who managed over three hundred and thirty-two (332) fleets of vehicles accessible at the service of participants of the Games.

There was available Saloon: 106, Team Bus Marco Polo, 55, Land Cruisers: 29 Waggon 78, Prado, 3, Ayalolo, 30, Minibus: 26 and Trucks: 5.

The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of Accra 2023, 13th African Games has commended all sports fans and media who came out in their numbers to support and promote the 13th African Games.

Mr. Samson Deen, member of the LOC on behalf of the Chairman Dr. Kwaku Ofosu – Asare said “the last time Ghana filled Accra (Ohene Djan) Stadium to this kind of attendance was 16 years ago when Cameroon played Egypt in a CAN 2008 Finals (35000 Attendance) short of the 2 Feb 2008 game between Ghana vs Nigeria (at 45000 Attendance)”

“I single-handedly received Egypt for the tournament and was their official Anchor man (African Origin Travels) received five charter flights from Egypt through the support of late Captain Samir Zaher who supported me throughout his career at the Egyptian FA”.

“The energy and the experience has been there, Ghanaian fans want to see confidence from leadership and our teams”.

“Congratulations Black Satellites and Accra fans for the massive support and super attendance which will go in history to tell the Ghanaian fans deserve respect”.

“We also thank the fans at the closing ceremony of the 13th African Games where over 10,000 fans filled the Legon Stadium and watched the Bhim Nation Performance”.

“Yes Ghanaians deserve such an atmosphere, and to be part of the history” said Mr. Samson Deen, a member of the LOC and chairman of the Transport Committee.

He is the President of the African and Ghana National Paralympic Committee (NPC).

Ghana's first skeleton Olympian, Akwasi Frimpong, has concluded his 2023/2024 World Cup season on a high note, achieving a remarkable 30th place ranking in the IBSF BMW World Cup Standings. This achievement stands as the highest ever by an African athlete in bobsleigh or skeleton on this prestigious stage.

Frimpong credits his success to the guidance of Coach Matschenz and Coach Patrick Shannon, as well as the support of the Chinese national skeleton team, who welcomed him this season. He also expresses gratitude to his sponsors - On, Momentous, and Murdock Auto Team - for their unwavering support and motivation.

With his sights set on the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, Frimpong acknowledges the global support he has received and vows to continue pushing boundaries in his career. Coach Dirk's reminder that he is just scratching the surface of his potential fuels his determination to achieve even greater success in the future.

Madam Fatma Samoura, the former FIFA Secretary General from Senegal was one of the special dignitaries who graced the closing ceremony of the 13th African Games in Accra on Saturday 23rd March, 2024.

She thanked HE President Nana Akufo-Addo and his colleague African presidents for their unwavering support and commitment towards sports development, in particular.

“Football can indeed bring about positive societal changes’” she said.

Ghana won both men and women’s football gold at the Games which involves 29 disciplines.

Over 5,000 athletes and officials from 53 countries participated in the exciting and memorable Games.

They were supported by 3,000 volunteers, with over 1,000 journalists covering the event.

Fatma Samba Diouf Samoura was appointed as the first female Secretary General of FIFA by president Gianni Infantino and assumed her post on 20 June 2016. Previously she worked in various positions at the United Nations, mostly of a humanitarian nature. In June 2023, she tendered her resignation as Secretary General, which took effect on 31 December 2023.

She was bestowed with a special distinction by African Union Chairperson Moussa Faki through Amb Samate for the services rendered to sports at the University of Ghana Stadium at Legon in Accra, Ghana.

Tokyo 2020 bronze medalist, Samuel Takyi says he is very determined to go to another Olympic Games in Paris, France after winning gold in the super lightweight division of the 13th African Games in Accra.

Speaking to Yours Truly, the Accra based Ashanti born pugilist promised to qualify in the last world qualifies opportunity in Thailand.

“The mission is on, we went to Tokyo and it was me who made Ghana and Africa proud, I want to change the colour of the medal from bronze to gold” he stressed.

Samuel Takyi, skipper of the Black Bombers of Ghana said he wants to fulfill his dream to be an Olympic gold medalist as the African Games has motivated him.

He was chosen by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to represent African sportsmen and women at the Tokyo Olympic Games where he was the only African to win a medal in boxing. Actually he was the only medalist for Ghana at the Games.

He tried to enter the paid ranks and won bouts in Nigeria, South Africa and Accra, but returned to fight for his nation to win gold in the 13th African Games which was one of his ambitions after the Olympic Games, a promise he made to the sports minister and people of Ghana.

There is a saying that he who laughs last laughs best, and that was exactly what Team Ghana did on the final day before the closing ceremony at the 13th African Games held in Accra, Ghana.

Many people described it as a Fantastic Friday and it was a really great day for Ghana Sports as the nation won gold in Women’s Hockey, gold in Men’s Football by the Black Satellites, gold in the 200 meters by Joe Paul Amoah, gold in High Jump by Cadman Evans and four gold medals in Boxing by Mohammed Aryeetey, Joseph Commey, Amadu Mohammed and Samuel Takyi the Ring Warrior.

On that same day Ghana won silver in Men’s Hockey and silver in Boxing by Abu Kamoko, son of legendary Braima Kamoko aka Bukom Banku.

The day before on Thursday, the Black Princesses had grabbed gold in Women’s Football.

Egypt started well winning Table Tennis, Swimming and other disciplines, but Ghana proved that they are also a force by winning more precious medals on the last day.

The fans who trooped to the Accra Sports Stadium to support the Black Satellites really proved that after all Ghana Football is still alive and if the right things and right players who are willing to perform are selected, there will be more success and victory.

They fans showed real love and they must be appreciated and congratulated just like the young footballers.

Coach Dr. Ofori Asare, head trainer of the Black Bombers, the national boxing team says he is gratified with the performance of his boxers as they were able to win four gold, one silver and two bronze medals to add to the tally of Team Ghana at the 13th African Games.

Speaking to journalists at the Bukom Boxing Arena after Abu Kamoko has missed his gold and got the silver, the celebrated boxing trainer and founder of the Wisdom Boxing Gym said the boxer was not fully fit but had to go into the ring to raise the flag of mother Ghana and he gave fans a good fight.

According to Coach Asare Kamoko complained of having problems with some parts of his body and the medics attended to him, while it was his first major tournament joining the national team for the first time a compared to the other medalists.

He said Abu Kamoko gave a good account of himself and can do better in the future despite improving upon his dad (Braima Kamoko aka Bukom Banku) who was a bronze medalist at the All African Games in South Africa.

The Ghanaian boxers in the finals dished out fantastic display on Friday to climax the 13th African Games.

Out of 16 representatives entered by the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF), nine could not reach the medal zone, however Mohammed Aryeetey (Minimumweight - 48Kg), Amadu Mohammed (Bantamweight - 54Kg), Joseph Commey (Lightweight - 60Kg) and Samuel Takyi (Light Welterweight -63.5Kg) won gold.

Abubakar Kamoko (Cruiserweight - 86Kg) took a silver, while Janet Acquah (Minimum weight - 48Kg) and Theophilus Allotey (Flyweight - 51kg) went home with bronze medals.

Unfortunately, Abdul Walid Omar, Alfred Kotey, Henry Malm, Abdul Baki Adam Jonathan Tetteh and Daniel Plange missed the podium just like the Black Hitters (female boxers) Ramatu Quaye, Adelaide Djabartey and Sarah Apew.

The President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah sent his best wishes to boxers and urged them to train harder to qualify for Paris 2024, naming potentials like Samuel Takyi, Mohammed Aryeetey, Amadu Mohammed and Joseph Commey.

Coach Carl Lokko of the Bronx Boxing Gym was at the Arena and also hailed the medalists for raising the flag of Ghana and ensuring that the national anthem is played.

Coach Lokko who is Vice President of the United Coaches Association of Ghana said the future is still bright, but advised the sports authorities to invest and motivate sportsmen and women to perform better in subsequent events.

Ms. Sarah Lotus Asare, a boxing match maker and WBC Cares rep in Africa said Coach Asare has shamed the devil by his recent achievement. The daughter of the celebrated trainer said “We are very happy, we shall go home and sleep well after many sleepless nights, we give praise and thanks to the Almighty”.

Mr. Ernest Danso, the Chef Du Mission (CDM) of Team Ghana was at the Arena to inspire the boxers. He assured them of their per diems and winning bonuses.

Gold medalists will get $3,000, silver medalists will collect $2,000 while bronze medal winners will be rich by $1,000.
